Drudge/RW media are pushing it as though he called Palin a pig. Obama made a mistake with this one.
And blame for any fallout from the comment should be laid squarely on Mr. Obama's shoulders. In this hyper-sensitive time, one clearly expects a corporate-controlled, RW-biased media to jump on any comment and manipulate it against him.

Sure, we KNOW what he meant. Anyone who isn't a complete lemming would understand he was making an analogy to GOP policies. But the American electorate is largely a bunch of lemmings who will accept the news exactly how it's packaged and reported--and this 'story' is being packaged to paint Obama as making a sexist, insensitive comment. It's analogous to Kerry's botched joke about Americans having to serve in Iraq because of a lack of education (paraphrasing). Complete bullshit? Yes. But also stupidity by the candidate.

2. Bullshit. Obama is to blame for NOTHING on this!
He was NOT talking about her, he was talking about CHANGE, and how it relates to what McCain was pushing and how it was the same stinky old shit Bush was offering. Caribou Barbie was not mentioned IN THE LEAST.

In fact, according to AP, Mr. Sensitive (McCain) used that SAME line in talking about Hillary's health care plan.

So tell me HOW it could be Obama's fault that they'd take his words and manufacture FAUX OUTRAGE?

This is bullshit. Is this how we stand up for our candidate? By buying into the lies from Karl Rove and the professional victims?

Each time the Repugs call out on that comment he made, undecideds check it out and hear a little bit of the truth each time.

All we need to do is be consistant, stick to the facts, not meddle anything and tell it like it is.

11. A) You're wrong. It won't hurt Obama. B) I find your posts relentlessly negative
Of course, the right wing are going to try to make this look bad.

But this is a common phrase. So it's going to roll off the back of most people ESPECIALLY when they hear that McCain's used this same phrase in a much more direct way about female opponents.

More importantly, if this spurs conversation about what McCain's really offering that's different or what Palin is offering that's different, that's great.

We cannot surrender every time they fight back. That's what your post is suggesting. Overly, relentlessly negative.

100. well it would appear you chose an appropriate user name

Fighting back intelligently is exactly what he did. This wasn't a slip up. He chose his words carefully, as he always does. An old saying, used by McCain himself about Hillary's health care plan. No chance for it to be mistaken by anyone the way they are misrepresenting it.

But don't think for a second Obama didn't know the McCain Camp would react exactly as they did. Drudge ain't shit ... MSM is laughing at McCain, not ha ha laughing ... ridicule laughing.

Americans aren't nearly as stupid as you seem to think ... but you'll have to convince me that you aren't.

Speaking English and using common idiomatic phrases that any idiot understands and which have been already used countless times during this and nearly all political races of the past quarter-century.

Obama isn't stupid, and shame on you for saying he is. The stupid people are those in the media who think this matters and the voters at large who buy anything fed to them by those same idiots.

McCain used the exact same phrase to refer to Hillary Clinton's health care proposal. Instead of criticizing Obama for assuming that people aren't total fucking idiots, how about you bring that up every single time some right winger or media shill says it?

46. yeah I agree...mistake.
Mistake big time.

Why? Because it doesnt matter whether McCain or anybody says another word on this, as long as it gets in the minds of peopl. Especially WOMEN. Obama is already losing an edge with white women AND younger women are starting to slide. All demographics are starting to look wobbly.

Sorry but it looks like a move based out of anger and frustration as well. And that will translate to people. Like it or not.

Obama can't afford these "small" mistakes. Even the ones that are little misspeaks. "MY muslim faith".

Sticks in peoples minds. He's flustered and its showing.

I seriously don't think Palin really cares. I mean she didnt seem at all fazed about the hoopla that preceeded her speech. THIS surely isnt going to throw her off balance. The girl is pretty fairly steady. You gotta admit that at least. Thats my point. THis is sooooo utterly sophmore thtat it really does smell of frustration from obama.

All she has to do is keep giving him the rope it seems.

They are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill and some of you are helping them by wringing your hands and pretending that there is a real story here :eyes:.

He said something that needed to be said and he said it in plain terms-this is such nonsense! This sort of the nonsense is the real distraction from the issues, not legitimate discussions about Palin's suckiness..

The memory hole is about 3 days. Everything heads down there eventually. Obama's brilliant. He's "floating" his attacks right now to see what works and what doesn't... with 60 days left, he's got plenty of research time.

Only the right-wing outlets are pushing it, and nobody is swayed by what they hear on Drudge Report or Fox News. Only the true believers on both sides pay attention.

Still keeping my fingers crossed, but the MSM seems to have decided that it's too baseless and silly to make a story out of. Even Huckabee defended Obama on it.

You evidently dont understand the the republicans or their base. This will be big news. Before the week is done Obama will be playing defense on this which is exactly the wrong thing to do. Ill clue you in on something, the best way to defeat anyone is to keep them on the defensive or piss them off to the point they attack without damaging you.

83. BULLSHIT. McCain can shove it up his ass.
He used the phrase referring to one of Hillary Clinton's policies the same way Obama used it about McCain/Palin's phony attempt to promote the 'change' meme.

Pundits/pols with common sense already know it. McCain/Palin need to stop whining, STFU and stop trying to turn this election campaign into a sideshow of distraction.

The arrogant assholes had it coming. Poor Governor Mooseburgers might have to have her lipstick line re-written for her.

No quarter for these shitheels who would dare to foist this unqualified Fundie on the American people after everything their party has done to destroy this country for the past 8 years.

Good gawd. :eyes:

Blame this one on the media and the wimpy-ass poutrage McCain/Palin campaign.

It's a damned common expression and you're making mountains of molehills while successfully dodging a discussion of the issues. That's exactly what McCain wants.. a three-day news cycle where they don't have to defend their record of cheerleading eight years of GOP disaster.

Even the MSM is laughing in McCain's face on this one. Let them. Sit back and watch, don't buy into this horseshit.

From what I've seen so far the media is reporting the story accurately. Undoubtedly, Limbaugh and Hannity will use it to try and whip their disciples into a frenzy later today, but if it weren't this then they would do the same thing with something else.

102. eh, this sounds like concern trolling, even if it isn't...
I think we need to take their stupid arguments and cram them back down their throats early and often, myself.

Besides, in context, Obama's comments are completely justifiable, and if they were designed to draw fire from the whiny-ass titty babies over at Team McCain, he did a splendid job of it.

So, if you're on the level--and I think you are--I wouldn't worry so much. I think they're handling this very well.
