If he really said this and if it was clear he meant Palin, it's a cheap, demeaning, nasty, unrewarding comment that is offensive to at least one woman (me).

When they're doing the same things over and over. The "lipstick on a pig" saying works perfectly in that regard.

It's just that when he said it, the way the crowd went nuts, you know they took more from it than what he said. That's what was so hilarious about it.

Whether he intended that connection to be made is what is unclear to me. If he intended it, I think it's a major mistake.

Sure, we KNOW what he meant. Anyone who isn't a complete lemming would understand he was making an analogy to GOP policies. But the American electorate is largely a bunch of lemmings who will accept the news exactly how it's packaged and reported--and this 'story' is being packaged to paint Obama as making a sexist, insensitive comment.
