I can always depend on DU...to depress me!?
I come here and see thread after thread about polling numbers taken right after a national convention when McCain is having a bounce (just as Obama did right after his), and the hand wringers going about how Obama is blowing it and how can we recover, etc.

I'm so glad yesterday I spent an afternoon calling for the democrats and spoke to one voter after another who are not only voting for Obama but is excited about him. What an upper that was compared to visiting DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND.

2. Hey - I'm glad you're talking to those you're talking to (Obama supporters),
but the fact that McCain/Palin just jumped from being 5-7 points down to even, or even ahead, ain't any DUers trying to depress you, it's the incredibly dumb-ass American public! I've said it many times in the past 8+ years, but I literally can't believe them. May still move to Canada.

9. Did he? Really?
My memory is not what it once was (and probably never was) but this AM I saw CNN saying McCain had closed the gap to within 1 point of Obama - and was now at 43-44.

But i could have sworn that last week they were six points apart, 43-49.

That is NOT a bounce for McCain. It is a sag for Obama. It's a let down AFTER Obama's bounce from the DNC.

If my memory is correct, McCain didn't do shit. He just stayed right where he was, at 43. He got no bounce. McCain did NOT close the gap. Obama simply leveled out after his bounce. And the real story is that McCain got no bounce from his convention.

Not that you'd ever hear that from CNN.

3. graywarrior wrote about her day canvassing in NH-a swing state
She had a very positive experience. NH is full of Independents and Republicans, and she had very good conversations with them.

DU has a lot of chicken littles posting, but we need to be realistic as well. The Corporate Media is doing their best to defeat Obama, along with McCain.

10. Of course. They always show their 'concern' in order to scare us.

4. I know but I come to see that latest news because it has the best compilation from a variety of
sources. I try to avoid the "sky is falling" threads.

6. Thanks, I needed that
Good to know there are many in Wisc. that bother to listen rather than go for the repub. show-time. My faith in the thinking ability of many in this country is failing. It appears they vote for a simple one liners like taxes and the unborn. Sheesh, if it was only that simple.

8. We are letting the shiny object turn us into Demagoguic Underground
We need to focus on what we are good at - we are not good at being the National Enquirer. Let the real scumbags do the dirty work!!
