Carl Bernstein: The old John McCain would have rolled his eyes at Palin's speech last night.
Hey, saw something on CNN that I thought was a good point. Bernstein was talking about how he has spent a lot of time over the years with John McCain, and the person who used to be John McCain would have definitely rolled his eyes at the speech that Palin gave, because he used to be against the "culture wars" type of attack. He then went on to discuss what a sell out John McCain is now that he has embraced that narrative, and how he did not have the guts to go with Ridge or Lieberman, who he really wanted to pick, and that shows how much McCain has changed. I just liked that line.

and on another note: My older non-political sister (trying to get her to vote for the first time this year though, we'll see ) said that she watched Palin's speech last night and thought that it was absolutely laughable ,ridiculous, and caustic . She then asked whether it was true that Obama wanted to raise taxes, and I gave her the right information. She was also with our great grandfather who is a Republican....he always bitches about Obama having "no accomplishments", but can't name any of John McCain's, other than "he's been in the Senate for a long time..." He is also one of those Republicans who tows the party line, but hates John McCain. Anyways, my sister told me that the main thing that my grandfather took away from Palin's speech is "she's a looker, isn't she?" and "she's easy on the eyes". Blehhh

and on ANOTHER note...went to Borders today and the Corsi book was 40% off...next to the Tori Spelling autobiography. Pretty fitting if you ask me.

1. Im afraid the old McCain these media people loved is gone forever
The old McCain would never have sold himself out to the Rove people to get elected.

That he has tells me he's no longer in charge of all his mental facilities, and he's being managed now much as Reagan was during his second term.
