i want to write a letter to the editor i need some points
today in my local (printed) paper, there was a checklist of how
smirky has done with his 2000 campaign promises.
To my disgust, they came up with 3 things he did do and 3 things he didn't. Seemed to me that there were a lot more promises made that
never happened. is there a good list somewhere so I can address this in my letter to the editor?
thanks...

1. Here's some
I can't give you exact quotes, but you can find them online.

He said he wasn't into nation building. Now we're rebuilding two nations.

He also said that he was doing the tax cut to give the money back to the people (the surplus) and he wasn't going to run a deficit. Then, when the deficits happened, he pushed the tax cut more saying he needed to do it for the economy and that the deficit would be small and short-lived. Both false.

I think that centerforamericanprogress.org might have the info.

2. Check the Center for American Progress flip-flop list.
They have a few promises from Campaign 2000 in there, like promising not to spend the Social Security surplus.

6. Note in your LTTE
That you are responding to a previous letter (increases the odds of getting it published).
Keep each point short.

1. Bush passed Leave No Child Behind and then didn't fund it.
2. Bush promised to enhance AmeriCorps and then cut its budget.
3. Bush accused Clinton of overextending the military.
4. Bush promised to bring Osama bin Laden to justice. Now he rarely mentions him.

You can even make a case for why conservatives should be pissed at him:
1. Largest deficit in history.
2. Done nothing to curb illegal immigration.
3. Passed massive new entitlement program for Medicare.

8. thank you! here it is:
Dear Editor
I noticed in Monday's paper that the PI is "Keeping Score" on the President's campaign promises.
I also noticed that you forgot to mention quite a few of the broken promises.
For starters:

George W Bush promised to change the tone in Washington.
He promised that he would be a uniter not a divider.
he promised that he would not spend the Social Security surplus.
He said his tax cuts would be to give the money back to the people and that he wouldn't create a deficit .(which by the way is the largest deficit in history)
He said he would preserve the patient's bill of rights.
He said that he supports a woman's right to choose.
He pledged to issue regulations based on science.
He has done nothing to curb illegal immigration.
He passed Leave No Child Behind and then didn't fund it.
He promised to enhance AmeriCorps and then cut its budget.
He accused Clinton of overextending the military.
Bush promised to bring Osama bin Laden to justice. Now he rarely mentions him.
He passed a massive new entitlement program for Medicare. Did this benefit the seniors? Hardly.
Sounds like a lot of empty promises to me. Vote for Kerry, we've wasted 4 years too many waiting for Bush to follow through.
