A modest proposal for taking on Plain.
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 12:55 PM by Neshanic
It seems now that they are going to ride this creature into the convention with her Jerry Springer family, and small town backstabbing and power trips. They are not going to discard her. Republicans don't make mistakes, and John McCain does not either.

First let them bloviate all they want on at the Wonderbread meeting, but after that, then I propose this.

A major repub strategist said it's about personalities and not issues.

We need to frame this on a two level attack.

One going in would be on personality and everything that goes with it. Sadly, for the Puritans at this site, this means going after the beliefs of this woman. Someone needs to get an attack scenario in motion that breaks through and resonates with the voters considering voting for her. The Fundies already will be voting for her, but the gravity is starting to drag the undecideds in. How would this be accomplished? Well we would venture into a land that we have never visited as a party. Exposing the religious and basic beliefs of the Palin family and compare and contrast the obvious paradoxes. The questions need to asked. If the Bible asks that the woman be subservient to care for the children, and the republicans are the biggest proponents of this, then how can she rightly abandon the children in this most inportant aspect? The Bible and premarital sex, the bible and how she acts in everyday life. The best scenario would be Biden leading right out of the box with this at the debate to put them back on their heels imediately, as they would never expect this from a Democrat. He needs to ask the blunt questions to the screen, and not her. "Do we want this person who requires others to live one way, but does not herself to be the person that could be President?" This hands off the little lady thing is not going to work. If she is so tough and capable, then Biden should say that in this debate he is dealing with the most cacapble person he has ever debated and will not hold back, then grill on the belief system and the haywire disconnect with the average American.

Two, then would be the obvious. The economy, and this would be taken directly to McCain by our big guy. Also he could go into how McCain will have the time to on the job train his VP. These issues would be Obama's with McCain alone. Biden would jump in from time to time, but his job would be too dismantle Palin.

This time we need to run right at Palin. No turning back, no excuses. Biuld her up and Biden telling everyone how excited he is to take on such a formidable apponent who like all strong women will not flinch in the least. Then go after the beliefs, and the utter contempt she shows for the US and it's people to do anything, even to the point of not thinking about the county and if SHE is the right choice herself.

Flame away.

1. If I was Obama, I'd stick with the obvious: "she's more of the same."
We don't have to get sucked into all the mine-fields about children, and babies, and ZOMG she's a woman11!!!!

Like all Republicans, her policies are bad. More Of The Same. If the GOP tries to steer it into some other dead end about sexism, or what-the-fuck-ever, just tell them they're a bunch of WATB and STFU.

2. If we do not go to "personality" on her specifically, we will lose.

3. Why? "More of the Same" has been working great...
it was working perfectly well on McCain before Palin, and it will continue to work for the same reasons after Palin. Because it's true. This country is off the rails. And everybody knows it. McCain/Palin aren't going to put us back on the rails, because they both think business-as-usual for the last 8 years is just ducky.

4. They are running/framing on personality. We must address this in some way also.

5. Why not do both?
I mean, her "personality" can be attacked quite easily in the same breath as the "more of the same" line. This is a woman who brought partisan politics and Bush-style cronyism to a small town's city hall. She has no problem forcing the resignation of anyone who doesn't tow her line. She's stonewalling an investigation because the people investigating her are not people that she appointed.

There's plenty of candy in this pinata. Just keep beating.

6. Her firings and personal vendettas most definitely play to this..
I'd craft a message around that behavior and cast it on a larger stage, like foreign policy.

'Sarah Palin threatened anyone in Alaska who disagreed with her. Is that type of behavior going to work with Vladimir Putin?'

I'm betting the ads are already in the can.
