Because of her reputation as the "most popular" governor - laughable in view of his denouncing Obama's "celebrity" status. I'm sure he also thought she'd bolster his "Maverick" image. But both are less like Mavericks than a Mad Cows - neither runs with the rest of the herd, not because they're independent but because they have scrambled brains. Palin's record is truly pathological, and McSame's isn't a heckuva lot better.

I almost feel sorry for McSame: it looks to me like he's showing early signs of dementia, on top of PTSD and a bad case of narcissism. But Palin has no such excuse: she's just a really, really scary lady. And together they're toxic.
