We took the free shuttle bus and it was real heart warming to see so many Kerry Edwards yard signs along the Midway. (There were a couple of Bush Cheney on Hamlin, but more Kerry Edwards).
The Kerry booth was immediately next to the entrance and it was surrounded by many people. One of the Congressman may have been there as it was impossible to get around
As we were moving out I saw a woman with a button of Bush saying: read my lips, no more jobs.
Lots of Kerry buttons, Veterans for Kerry and others as we were milling around.
Then, at the Horticulture building we saw an elderly lady with a B-C button and later, on the street one man with a B-C sticker around his hat. This was also where Norm Coleman's booth was - pretty empty. Everyone in NYC, I guess.
As we left and were waiting at the Snelling Ave street light to cross - hordes of people on both sides, a small white truck drove slowly. It had a banner - painted, I think - of two naked (from the chest up) men kissing and a sign: you want gay marriage? vote Democrats in November. It also had a URL address which I did not get. I did not hear any gasping or any reaction at all from our side which included tired fair visitors going home. But was glad to look in front of me and to see a Kerry button on the back pack of the young mother in front of me.
As we boarded the bus that was driving north on Snelling Ave., it was nice to see large Kerry Edwards yard signs.
Thank you, the residents of the St. Paul neighborhood next to the fair.
