Troopergate controversy being blamed on Obama's campaign!
http://community.adn.com/adn/node/130073

The McCain campaign says Palin “was never directly involved” and blamed the controversy on the campaign of the Democratic nominee, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.
“The Governor did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. It’s outrageous that the Obama campaign is trying to attack her over a family issue. As a reformer and a leader on ethics reform, she has been happy to help out in the investigation of this matter, because she was never directly involved,” the campaign said in a statement.

3. Isn't that the same agrument they tried using for Nixon?
Joking of course but I believe they always say, "So and so was never DIRECTLY involved." No, most of them aren't stupid enough for that, they have people get DIRECTLY involved on their behalf.

6. OMFG! The gloves are off!! So it's the Obama campaign spending 100k to investigate?
A "family" matter?? Fuck Karl Rove, John McCranky and is PNAC pals.

Yeah.. the State of Alaska spends 100k to investigate that liar, and it's Obama's fault??

9. The Alaskan state legislature is running the Obama campaign?
From http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/211769.php

Soon after this, questions were raised in the state about Monegan's firing and he eventually came forward and said he believed he'd been fired for not giving in to pressure to fire Wooten.

After Monegan made his accusations, Palin insisted there was no truth whatsoever to his claims. Nonetheless, a bipartisan committee of the state legislature approved an investigation.

11. a family issue?
Ok...what's Palin's side of the story again? Is it either "He was fired for unrelated reasons to my family", or is it "he was fired bc he would not fire someone who was beating my sister?" Either way, it's pretty fucked up. George Will was talking about how Palin would restore "balance of government"? I am not giving her a pass for the custody story (a lot of which sounds bogus to me), the correct procedure is filing the proper complaints with the authorities, doing something else relates exactly to the lack of balance in the government that we saw under the Bush administration...

14. "family issue"????????
It's a family issue because she made it so. A Commissioner shouldn't be fired because she made it into a family issue. The whole investigation is because a personal issue shouldn't make her abuse her power in her professional work.

20. I agree 100% and remember this
the other issue we need to dance with is that the State of Alaska Constitution has that position serving at will; so in theory she could fire him for any reason or no reason at all. That will be part of the defense. I can't believe they are trying to hang this on Obama!

16. Obama's prescient? Cool!
He was able to stir up the controversy *in Alaska* before McCain even announced Palin as his VP pick! We could use a president who can see into the future like that - it would help solve a lot of our problems!

22. Why would commissioner Moengan confirm AGAIN on Saturday that she did not pressure him to hire/fire?
Q. Is Troopergate going to hurt your candidacy?

A. No, not when you consider ... I did not pressure commissioner Monegan to hire or fire anybody. And commissioner Monegan confirmed that again today. As he had been confirming all along but I think that had been ignored.

And so, no I'm not worried about that.
