Did anyone else think Palin's speech today was just awful?
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 08:06 PM by thewiseguy
Maybe it was me but I did not feel like she belonged in that stage. Now I gave her the benefit of doubt before she came and spoke, but man was she awful.

Did Sarah Palin even talk about the economy today? Did she say anything that would suggest she could name 10 countries?

Yes there was that reference to Hillary Clinton. Then again she is NO Hillary Clinton. In fact I can hear Joe saying, "Governor, I have worked with Senator Clinton. Senator Clinton is a friend of mine. Governor, you are no Hillary Clinton."

Why is Sarah Palin a VP choice? There were more qualified women for this job. I guess Sarah happened to be the most good looking one.

Funny thing is that I do not even find her attractive. That is some Epic Fail McCain!

Back to Sarah Palin's speech...was it me or those rethugs were finding it very hard to cheer her?

1. Yes.
It was incredibly weak, as was McCain's introduction of her.

2. She has an awful voice.
Nails on a chalkboard. Quite hideous, in fact.

I'm not going to critique her appearance in too much depth but I don't think she's any more attractive than the average 44 year old. More preened, more make-up shovelled on though.

(and, of course, it is totally irrelevant)- at least she ain't all botoxed up like Cindy McSame. Anymore treatments and she is gonna have a beard :)

On edit: I wonder if republican women "mow the lawn". Sorry, I can't take one for the team, I am married.

7. I can almost ask that they not do this. I mean it's like picking on small children; Biden can't win.
Consider if he demoralizes her she get sympathy points, if he doesn't she does better than expected.

16. Yup, that's the game plan though. You should have heard Morning Joe on MSNBC.
Biden would come across as a "bully" and has to be careful. He has to go down to her "level". I was like great...so she's not qualified to go toe to toe with him. So they've taken the sexism game and brought into order and Palin is playing along.

In her first few minutes on the national stage she has been caught lying. Against bridge to nowhere? Excuse me Governor, you are in the lower 48 now, we can Google statements like that.

23. Uh huh.
Next time they rerun that speech, turn off the sound and just watch McCain. At one point he actually manages to forget all the cameras as he checks out Palin's "qualifications". Get yourself a good rearview mirror, Sarah - Cindy is closer than she appears!

24. Big, BIG mistake acting like she is picking up the banner from Hillary...WOW...
She's just not very smart. AS IF the women for Hillary could for one minute get behind her, as if she has done anything to deserve her spot in the limelight! I think this is totally going to backfire on her.

But after seeing her, she is definitely just an idiot.

I don't know, she may appeal to a lot of voters, but she's just an idiot.
Proud to stand "besides" John McCain? Nucular? "I God Bless You"

29. Compare it to Dan Quale's - for being on the national stage for 24 hours, it was great...
But at some point she'll need to actually talk to people. Then she will sink like a stone. She'll need to be able to speak conversantly on TONS of national and foreign policy issues that I'm sure she hasn't really given any thought to yet.
