If Hillary really didn't want Obama to win before - she DOES NOW!
I've been for Obama from the beginning of this, but never hated Hillary. I have to think that if it was true about what the pundits were saying - that she secretly wanted McCain to win so she could run again in 2012.. that probably ended today.

I'm going to guess that SHE wants to be the FIRST female president, and with Senator McCain's age - she is more likely to possibly get to be president then most VP's.

I really think Hillary has to see this as a slap in the face... she did most of the work, and a woman with less then 2 years of experience is stepping into the glory of it.

So how do the strong Hillary Supporters take this? Especially the "Puma" types who say that they are going to vote for McCain. Do they happily continue on and vote for him because he put a woman on his ticket, or do they revert their rage on him now that he's put an inexperienced candidate in front of Hillary.

Just curious.. i'm sort of stunned by this nomination.

1. Interested to see more Hillary supporter reactions ..... on this board and elsewhere .....
If I were one to have worked so hard these last 18 months or so for Hillary, or even if I was Hillary herself .... my first thought of Palin today would have been 'Home-wrecker' ..... or some feeling of 'fricking opportunist' how dare she ..... but that's just me. Would feel like a punch in the gut to me. Time will tell. Peace.

5. Good point, seriously ...
This kind of points out how reactionary and juvenile Rs are in general, and McCain in specific.

DARN RIGHT this lights a fire under Hill, and those who supported HER.

6. The Person to "Resent" in this, if there is one
isn't Palin. It would be Obama, I think. My wife said, "So why didn't he pick Hillary, again? I guess he didn't want Bill. But shows you how hard it is to be a woman. You work and you work and some guy gets the job instead. Obama just might lose the election because of this."

Don't know how many others would feel this way.

7. Do you or your wife really think...
...that he would have picked Palin if Hillary had won the nomination? It's a cynical ploy designed to grab disaffected Hillary supporters, and I think most of her supporters will see right through it.

9. I'm just reporting.
We were in a restaurant having breakfast together. She said to me, "You see all these waitresses in here. I betcha lots of these women will see something of their own lives in Palin's life. I betcha lots of people like these women will vote for McCain because of this."

I'm not a woman and don't have a woman's sensibilities so I can't say whether I think she's right or wrong.

She also said, "She may be a right-winger, but it is sure nice to hear a woman's voice in all this."

20. Your wifes argument doesn't give these women waitresses .....
or women in general any credit for being 'smart' ... yeah they are going to vote against their own interests just because the Repubs have a woman on the ticket. Some will but I doubt the women on our side of the isle will let this go unchallenged. They are already coming out swinging today. Hillary's voice is much louder than Palins ..... let's see how this plays out. I like the Democratic party's chances more today than I did last night ...... Peace.

I'm sorry. I feel bad for you.

My mom, a lifelong Republican, is still voting for Obama. So's her partner. They're not in the slightest influenced by this.

8. If you must go there again, remember Hillary helped defeat her own chances
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 01:27 PM by CakeGrrl
If she had not talked up John McCain - remember that? - against her own Democrat, she might have had a chance. Apart from that, Biden brings more foreign policy experience and senate experience to the table. Obama made the right decision.

If Obama should lose because people feel the need to "vote for a vagina" and help put the profoundly UN-qualified Palin a step away from the Presidency because they're that embittered over Hillary, then this country on the whole doesn't deserve the help he's trying to give them.

The people that McCain is trying to reach with this ploy don't care about all that.

10. How bout this perspective .... you work and work .... as a female .....
and an 'opportunist female' steps in and trys to take your glory. It cuts both ways. Obama just might win the election because to this too. I would bet on the later. Peace.

18. I kind of had a feeling he would pick a woman
because anything else couldn't get him women voters with his pro life stance. he is hoping the low info voters won't check who she really is and will just vote woman...all he has to get is a small percentage of that in some states where we are close. that is what he is hoping for.

I think it is more important than ever for Hillary and all of the women politicians that are dems to speak out loud and clear on this so all women can hear.

More so than obama and biden we need to hear from the women on this. at this point i sincerely hope obama plans to do more campaigning with hillary and other women senators and gov's.
