Can we tamp down the sexism a little?
Jeez, all the comments about he 'picked a vagina', going after the fact that she has young kids (an argument often used when not promoting a woman), the Barbie crap....

Look, I think she's a terrible choice. But let's go after her whackjob fundie policy positions and not her gender.

1. Right. Dan Quayle meets Harriet MIers.
That's Sarah...what's her name again.

4. If she were a proud female....
...she wouldn't have allowed herself to be a cynical, cheap piece of propaganda. She's fair game, she's Miss 18 months and a Beauty Pageant. She is no Hillary Clinton.

5. When your priority was winning a beauty contest..

...you kind of ask for it, don't you think?

6. Agreed.
Her lack of experience is an issue. Her lack of a penis is not.

7. I agree and I think McCain chose her as a result of his own sexism -
He chose her because he wanted to run with a sexy, celebrity-looking woman who will help him accrue power -- that is sexist. He is using her exactly the same way he uses Cindy -- sexy, helped him accrue power by providing him with wealth.

8. I have to say I'm a little taken aback by the sexism here.
She's an *awful* choice, but not because she's a woman, for cripes sake.

10. it's not ALWAYS sexism to attack certain things
if Palin were a man, there's no way she gets this nod. You can't tell me there aren't more experienced men AND WOMEN who were vying for the spot. The only thing Palin brings in addition to this besides those people are a) what little executive epxerience she has (18 months), b) social conservatism, and c) she's a woman. it's a valid point to think that he picked her to siphon off some PUMA votes.

The fact that she has young kids is an issue because by her own admision she is a full-time mother as well as an executive (something possible as the governor of alaska, but maybe not as VP). I'm sure they can make allowances and work around it, but the question is will she be ready to put in 18-20 hour days as President if she's trying to also be a full time mother, breastfeeding and taking care of a disabled child? It's a valid question that someone should have to answer, man or woman, if they're applying for the Presidency.
