RNC Platform Draft: NYT
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/27/politics/campaign/27platform.html

(snip)
Republican groups around the country and some members of Congress were scrambling to obtain the text of the draft, which this year for the first time was not handed out until Tuesday night instead of earlier in the week. And, in another departure that frustrated party activists hoping to lobby members of the platform committee, the party declined to disclose their names.

The effort to rally the committee around the president's agenda without much debate succeeded in approving the platform with only a few significant revisions. Nearly half of the document commends Mr. Bush's effort to combat terrorism, and the platform also endorses his proposals to partly privatize Social Security and his record of tax cuts. Conservatives did succeed in adding a call to beef up enforcement of immigration laws and a plank strengthening the opposition to same-sex unions.

But the closely controlled process left sore feelings outside of the committee room, even from the conservatives who now dominate the party.

"Why can't we get a list of the platform committee members?" asked Phyllis Schlafly, founder of the Eagle Forum and a veteran conservative who led the efforts to revise the platform planks on immigration, stem cell research and other issues. "What is the big secret? They not only don't want them talking to me, they don't want them talking to each other."

1. The Texas Republican Platform
As goes Texas, so goes the Nation? Texas Republicans showed the true colors of the Republican Party.

I did a search to post only the platform, but came up with this site, which has a link to the TRP. I like the way this site handled it's overview.
