Clark to Rove: "I dare you"
General Clark is the ONLY candidate taking the attack to the FREEPERS! Everyone else is playing defense. Gotta admire beating the pukes at their own game.

"And if that makes me an 'old-style' Democrat, then I accept that label with pride and I dare you to come after me for it."

"If Karl Rove is watching today, Karl, I want you to hear me loud and clear: I am going to provide tax cuts to ease the burdens for 31 million American families -- and lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty -- by raising the taxes on 0.1 percent of families -- those who make more than $1,000,000 a year. You don't have to read my lips, I'm saying it," Clark said.

"And if that makes me an 'old-style' Democrat, then I accept that label with pride and I dare you to come after me for it."

So let's not act like Wesley Clark opened the woop ass. He found an old can of it Dean had used and discarded, and scraped the bottom to limply fling at Rove.

Big deal.

12. Dean was early to be against Bush, yes

but Clark's statements against Bush have more teeth, because Clark has more credibility to criticize military action than Dean does. The media can brush off Dean's comments against Bush, but not Clark's.

It is a big deal. It will become a bigger and bigger deal as the general election draws closer. And only Clark of the Democrats has the credibility to make the accusations stick, and to guide us out of Mess O'Potamia.

40. Dean's tax plan won't give Bush any trouble
because it is fatally flawed by its' equal treatment of tax breaks for low and middle income workers as well as the wealthy. It is not only un-Progressive, it shows a disregard for the economic trends since (at least) the Reagan years. Worst of all, it implies there is some parity of burden/benefit bourne by ordinary working people and the rich.

I doubt Clark's plan is perfect, but at least has progressive elements and offers something to a household with two $25,000 yr or less jobs.

I am not, btw, a Clark supporter, nor for that matter in any camp.

15. Go Clark!
But I don't think Rove fears him. Why would he?

They will attack Clark on Kosovo. They will ask why we were there and Milosovic was no threat to America while Saddam is the big, bad bogeyman.

They will attack his tax plan to raise taxes on those making over 1 million as class warfare.

I can see it now. You can bet Rove has tricks up his sleeve for all of the canidates.

19. That'd be nice - let's see that!
Kosovo: yup - he was SACEUR, winning the campaign with ZERO US troops KIA (and what's the score in Iraq, today?) - but the best part is the next one. Clark's orders came from the C-in-C better known as Bill Clinton (rinse and repeat that name a few times, until the opponent lies foaming and gasping on the floor)

Taxes: bring it on - together with the stats that demonstrate in blistering clarity who feeds the rich, and who's real putting Families First, caring for the Middle Class. Yum!

Karl Rove is quite welcome. More than that - he's pre-emptively BAITED!

18. I LOVE this part! Clark says Tax The Rich!
Clark issued a challenge to Republicans who might want to accuse him of class warfare.

TAKE THAT!!!

20. Notice, though he didn't use the "L" word ....
..."if that makes me an 'old-style' Democrat, then I accept that label with pride ..."

The policy stance he was referring to would more rightly get him labelled a liberal by the Wingnuts ... so why didn't he just own up to being a LIBERAL Democrat ??

Still too traumatizing of a self-definition, General ? :wtf:

Clark already *proudly* accepted the Liberal label. Bill Maher, noting that Dean ran away from the word, asked Clark if he was a Liberal. Clark said he was, and further, that America was a Liberal Democracy.

I guess when you swear an oath to defend a set of principles with your life, and pay the price in blood, you're a little more likely to stand your ground rather than try to change the subject.

For that I am happy to cheer him on. Even though I am a Dean supporter, I really like Clark. We are not going to win this election with kid gloves, we have to wake Americans up to the reality that this administration is responsible for some truly horrendous things. Bu$h sees average Americans as nothing more than peons and the people will have to know this. It is not pretty but it is the truth.
