VP would be a great cap on Biden's career.
He's been around a long time, had presidential aspirations, but couldn't quite get it, but VP would be an excellent legacy for him. Biden is smart, blunt and his temperment is perfect to campaign as a VP candidate. I can't think of anybody who would be a more effective attack dog in that position. And what's more, Biden makes McCain, and any of his potential VP choices sound stupid when he talks about foreign policy. He's perfect for chipping away at the McCain National Security Expert veneer.

But people tend to forget a few things about Biden. He had a speech problem as a young man, and was able to overcome it and enter public life. And when he was elected to the senate, his wife and infant daughter died in a car accident. He nearly left the senate before he ever started. But he credits the Montana's great Senator Mike Mansfield (disclosure, Mansfield was my grandfather's best friend, I am biased when it comes to him) for convincing him to get back in the game. Then in 1988, after suffering a humiliating speech plagiarism incident that caused him to drop out of the presidential race, Biden had two cranial aneurysms and nearly died. But he came back, continued his senate career and has cemented a reputation for his knowledge of national security and foreign affairs.

So, in short, Joe's a fighter. I think he's a great choice. I have come around to him over the years and learned to truly respect his intellect and bluntness. I'd believe we have just found the next Vice President of the United States. Good for Joe, he's paid his dues and worked hard his whole life for this moment. I couldn't be happier for him, Obama and the people of our country.
