This is the 2nd time McCain has trotted out swiftboater Col Bud Day to cover his ass
Asked to compare the attacks he helped launched against Kerry in 2004 to those being waged at McCain today, Day said the defining issue was truthfulness.

"The Swift Boat attacks were simply a revelation of the truth, the similarity does not exist here. What the Swift Boat campaign was about was to lay out John Kerry's record. John Kerry has never produced any evidence to deny that. We are producing the evidence of these attacks right now to show that those remarks were completely inaccurate."

1. Oh, what did Bud Day say recently? I know about the quote
you have, but haven't heard what he is saying now.

8. Thanks. Sorry, but Bud Day has backed up lies before.
Therefore, I do not find him a credible witness.

9. It would be good to see the press calling that out.
They seem to have gotten the idea with Corsi. Let's see them start looking for truth, not some twisted notion of "balance" which means giving credence to liars in order to appear even-handed.

7. I see the link to the McCain campaign's response has been posted, here is...
Mr. Sullivan's rebuttal:

McCain's "Christmas Story" Ads

John McCain is taking a lot of heat for a story he first told in his 1999 Memoir "Faith of My Fathers" about a guard who loosened his arms during one particularly painful torture session. The story goes that months later that guard approached McCain, at Christmas, and quietly drew a cross in the sand. McCain made this story into a campaign ad.

This isn't the first time McCain has put together a "Christmas Story" ad. Back in 1999, during the primary season, he released a radio ad entitled "A Christmas Story", narrated by Swift Boat veteran "Bud" Day, who was McCain's senior ranking officer and fellow ex-POW. According to an article on Salon in 1999 by Jake Tapper, the ad stated:

"Christmas of 1971 was centered around scripture that John had gotten from
the first Bible we had been able to get from the Vietnamese," Day says in the
first radio ad. "John composed an extremely compelling sermon that night about
the importance of Christmas ... I think it was certainly a shot to everyone's
morale to hear those Christian words in that very un-Christianlike place."

Odd that he chose to highlight this experience instead of the moving cross story.

2. When do people notice that Day and Swindle are on the McCain payroll
and are not credible "witnesses"?

4. And he is as devoid of credibility today as he was then....
they truly are increasingly desperate regarding the valid question of McCain's honesty and the "cross in the sand" controversy.

Love it.

12. Col. Bud Day Field
The regional airport in Sioux City, Iowa - the hometown of Mr. Day - was renamed in his honor. Of course, now I can acknowledge that the airport code has true meaning. That code, for those who do not know is SUX.

How fitting for this former hero, now liar.
