Has McCain or his team really thought through what it would mean to grant “full human rights” at the moment of conception?

That is a radical position held by only a very few on the far-right fringe of the pro-life movement. Those are the people who would prosecute women for first-degree murder just for having an abortion – same for the doctors who perform the abortions. In such a world, virtually every miscarriage would prompt a police investigation to rule “murder” as a cause of death.

I know McCain is trying to move to the right. But don’t think Middle America is ready for that level of radicalism.
