MN POLL: Franken and Coleman tied at 45.
Election 2008: Minnesota Senate
Minnesota Senate: Toss-up Between Coleman and Franken
Thursday, August 14, 2008

The United States Senate race in Minnesota remains a toss-up, but things are beginning to lean in favor of Republican incumbent Norm Coleman.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows Coleman and challenger Al Franken each earning 45% of the vote. This is the fourth straight survey where the candidates have been within three points of each other. A month ago, there was a statistically insignificant one-point gap in the race.

But when “leaners” are included, Coleman is up by three percentage points, 49% to 46%. Leaners are survey participants who initially don’t support either candidate but express a preference for one candidate during a follow-up question. Last month, the “leaners” were heading in Franken’s direction and the challenger enjoyed a three-point edge.

Coleman is viewed favorably by 53% of Minnesota voters, Franken by 48%.

5. I'm GLAD to hear that! I was worried the other day when I heard
Coleman was leading. I don't remember the margin, but it was enough to cause me concern!

6. They're tied at 45% "but things are begiinning to lean to Coleman"
Riiight....Rasmussen has no shame. They have to include "leaners" to even get a 3% lead which is within the margin of error. Its a dead heat with no favorite.

Expect Al to gain ground. Al has help too.

Yeah right.

And Norm Coleman is the choice of the under-40 cellphone-only crowd too, right?

I rest my case, your Honor.

12. I hope Franken gets the support he needs
Franken will be a voice of truth in Washington. I'm happy to learn he's viable. I just sent him a small donation.
