Wes Clark vs. Evan Bayh (From CCN):

" . . . One man who has surged in the past several days on Intrade is General Wesley Clark, and for good reason.

The good General does not have this same problem that Evan Bayh has. He consistently spoke out against the war in 2002, saying on CNN that an invasion of Iraq would be "at best a diversion, and at worst it risks the possibility of strengthening Al Qaeda and undercutting our coalition at a critical time." (8/30/2002).

It's all about messaging, folks. Wes Clark fits the message. He has stellar foreign policy credentials (like Joe Biden), but has not spent his whole life in Washington DC (unlike Joe Biden). He supported Hillary in the primary (like Evan Bayh), but did not support the Iraq War (unlike Evan Bayh). He's from the South (like Tim Kaine), but does not hold an important elected position that will be filled by a Republican (unlike Tim Kaine).

Clark has the foreign policy cred that Obama needs.
Clark fits the change message because he opposed the war and is not a DC insider.
Clark has the southern roots Obama could use without the possibility of losing an important postition to republicans. . . . "

2. While Clark would indeed be an outstanding SoS...
...I really hope he gets the nod for VP. I think that would be an outstanding ticket.

3. The Dems
have an awesome bench. No doubt the team will be great. Literally a bunch of all stars replacing a bunch of incompetent loyalists.

4. Also, Clark could bring in some of the Catholic vote. Overall, I think he's a perfect VP choice.

6. This Bayh Supporter Says
If it isn't Bayh, then Clark would be a great choice. I actually supported Clark in '04. Clark would also help here in Texas more than any other possibility other than Richardson. There was a post a few days ago quoting Clark's son as being sure that his father is not even being considered.

7. We have been criticized as creating a DU-buzz for Clark

when in reality he indeed has the momentum. I started saying about 3 days ago that Clark could be VP because an operative in the CT Democratic Party close to the Obama Campaign "leaked" to me that there was vetting under the radar for the General (?Caroline Kennedy?), which had accelerated after he blasted McSame in the Bob Schieffer interview. That is why I wrote the "a little bird told me" comment. I do hope that Obama picks General Clark, it is the best choice overall. And I do not buy for a second the statement made by Wes Clark, Jr. that his father had not received "vetting requests" by the Obama campaign...I think that Obama has kept him out of the loop and General Clark has been advancing under the radar.

8. VP. Definitely - especially with McCain swaggering and drooling over Georgia/Russia. n/t

9. It would be a masterful move. Hillary Clinton and her supporters would be happy
to see the good General ascend to the Vice-Presidency ready for combat against McShame and his likely VP Romney.

10. Wes Clark also has a solid stage presence. Bayh isn't just boring, he's Sebelius-level boring.
I know public speaking isn't the most important qualification for being VP, but it sure as hell is the most important qualification for being elected VP. And that's seriously all I care about.

In my opinion it's Biden, however, who's the strongest campaigner among the short listers mentioned so far.
