Who cares about Edward's affair?
Millions of Americans cheat on their SO every year. Would you like your personal weaknesses spread all over the trash mags and Cable Networks? I feel bad for the entire Edwards family.. nobody's dirty laundry should be aired out like this.

1. It's not the worst thing ever, but what about all those people who worked
so hard, and gave so much money and support, for him to be our nominee? I'd feel terribly betrayed that he was knowingly jeopardizing our crucial election this fall.

5. That's how I feel.
Many people have affairs and I feel so sorry for Elizabeth Edwards. She seems like a wonderful person.

It's a politician putting an election at risk that really cheeses me off. Edwards saw what happened to Clinton over a private affair. Why would he be so stupid to do this. What was he thinking?... that HE could get away with it? oy... :banghead:

Thank goodness Edwards wasn't victorious in getting the nomination.

4. Why do people try excuse this behavior for Democrats?
Edited on Fri Aug-08-08 03:05 PM by ProSense
Personal life is this: age of partner, sex of partner, number of partners.

Public life is this: lying, which one has to do to cheat on a spouse. Not just lying to one's spouse, but lying to ones constituents.

That makes the person a liar.

If someone can get away with lying, where do the lies stop?

9. Some seem to get away with it pretty damn well.
And still get propped up on some pedestal like the be all and end all. See: DU. Some Democrats seem to really adore cheating liars.

The Republicans are primarily scumbags, and I try to point that out every chance I get.

Sorry, I'm not looking for the Democratic Party's hypocrisy to cancel out the Republicans'.

6. If you dont want your dirty laundry aired in public... dont hold a public office.
Its really that simple. And "millions of Americans do it" doesnt make it OK for someone who wants to be President of the country. Maybe you see no problem with him cheating on his cancer stricken wife and then lying to the entire country about it, but many people do. Or maybe we're just used to Democrats in office not being able to keep their dicks in their pants.

Pa-fucking-thetic.

7. McCain Gets A Free Pass - Why Not Edwards?
The issue is irrelevant for McCain, the GOP nominee, why should it be relevant for Edwards who is not the nominee?

11. Exactly.
Nobody seems to care about the dishonorable way John McCain treated his first wife -- and probably has treated his second. Edwards dropped out of the presidential race, he's not in office now, he's a private citizen. This is nobody's business but his family's.

29. McCain gets a much BIGGER pass
McCain walked out on his wife when she was severely ill. John Edwards did not abandon his wife.

Do you think the mass media will capture that point? I doubt it.

I imagine this is making the rounds on all the news shows.

Given all the shit they've been through stuff like this is not surprising. Happens a lot more than people are aware of.

I'm damn glad I don't watdh those stupid news shows any more.

18. I think the millions of Americans who are cheating on their spouses are assholes too
I don't judge a person by their race, gender, size, or sexual orientation, but I do judge people by their actions. What the hell is the point of marriage or even the struggle to gain rights for same sex marriage if no one takes it seriously?

Easy distraction for our brain-dead press corpse. This will keep them from having to report real news.

I hate the corporate hoooooore media. :nuke:

24. I don't. I really don't give a shit who...
fucks who unless it's a good, ribald story. Even if I know the people. (Unless maybe my wife, girlfriend, or such is involved)

And I don't understand why anybody should, even if this guy was still running for something.

So he screwed around? So what? This is the only country in the world where people get all het up about it and DEMAND their politicans be pure.

Democratic politicians, anyway. Republicans, it seems, can get away with damn near anything sexual.

Which brings me to wonder why it's us Democrats who get so het up about it and keep the fires burning. Republicans line up behind their sinners and refuse to let us hang them out to dry while we fall right into the trap and offer up ours as sacrifices.

So, ummm... everybody just shut up already and just let the story die.

(Like that's gonna happen.)
