McCain Ad Buys Drop In OH, PA, IA, NM
John McCain's ad buys have dropped dramatically over the last few weeks, including his investment on the airwaves in critical battleground states: OH, PA, NM and IA.

According to information provided to On Call by a reliable Democratic media buyer, McCain is spending $611K on television spots across the nation for the week of 8/5-8/11. Just three weeks ago, from 7/15-7/21, the GOPer dedicated $4M to ad buys.

Also notable is the campaign's decrease in spending over the last week in four battleground states:

-- In OH, McCain's campaign spent $197,018 for the week of 7/29-8/4. From 8/5-8/11, the Republican is spending $108,450.

-- In PA, McCain's campaign spent $92,808 for the week of 7/29-8/4. From 8/5-8/11, the Republican is spending $50,134.

-- In IA, McCain's campaign spent $45,844 for the week of 7/29-8/4. From 8/5-8/11, the Republican is spending $10,543.

-- In NM, McCain's campaign spent $25K for the week of 7/29-8/4. From 8/5-8/11, the Republican is spending nothing.

Read on for details of next week's ad buys.

1. One would need to be near brain dead to have;
McCain's ads resonate. The "Obama is the reason why gas prices are so high " is falling on deaf ears. Also the "Obama the uppity negro" just doesn't ring a bell up north. In my travels I find many of the flag waving good ole boys just not being won over to McCain as of yet, however they all say "there's something about Obama I don't trust". I answer yes, he's black and it usually gets them back peddling.

2. He is running low on cash
He just made that 6 million add buy for the olympics and I am sure that put a huge dent in his finances. Dont forget he ended last month spending more than he took in.

3. Jeez. Is that all he was spending in Iowa?
Seemed like we saw those ads a dozen times a night. So freakin' sick of them.

4. He Took His Ads Off The AirTo One Up Obama In The Olympics
I have to say, while the MSM hails his campaign teams as geniuses and desciples of Karl Rove, they sometimes act like 5th graders. For example, rather than keep their ads in play in battleground states, they wanted to one-up Obama's Olympic ad buy by $1 million. Its like, "$5 million for Olympic ads? Oh yeah? Well, we're spending $6 million! How do you like them apples." I am not saying that it is not effective. The people in Fox News sometimes act like a bunch of 5th graders, so they will think that taking money from battleground states, and investring $6 million in the Olympics to one-up Obama is brilliant.

5. I'm not looking forward to all the ads
I'm in Maryland, which is not a battleground state. Neither is DC. But Virginia is, and the local stations are a combo of DC, MD, and VA. Hopefully he will concentrate on Southern Virginia and not Northern Virginia. I am not looking forward to this in the fall.
