[BlueIris]

"To A Presidential Candidate"

This speeding train you make
over the body of the earth
is an honest journey across the tracks
that answer people's needs
to create straight lines
but become the avenues
over which you move restlessly
while the tunnels where
you propel yourself forward
bring on a pitch
which proclaims how fast
you race from the city
by the sea through the open country
where fields of wheat
envelope you in your surge
toward the sweep of horizon
that aims to swallow you
whole, a prospect that
makes you gun your engines
as you charge on top of
hills and rough turf
and howl over caverns and cliffs,
howling day and night
on the tractable earth.
