I have been hard on Obama this week but I was just thinking
that when things looked very bad for Obama in the primaries he always pulled it off. I remember after weeks of Reverend Wright and his poll numbers were going down I was secretly terrified that it would cost him the nomination. Then the bitter comments caused some worries. Of course I knew what he meant but I was worried about what the working class whites would think. Then Reverend Wright appeared again. Each time his numbers dropped but he rebounded quickly. I hope that is what happens here too. Yes, McCain is gaining some strength (have to admit it to be able to fix it). However, I think Obama might just pull this off. Maybe he will be able to pull his numbers up a bit. Then the VP pick combined with the convention might give him the boost he needs. This would happen just as people are starting to pay attention. Anyway, I'm going to try to trust the Obama team.

1. I simply refuse to allow myself to entertain even the possibility that Obama will lose.

3. I feel he will win by a landslide...barring that they don't steal it...these
polls do not make sense...I believe it is done to make this look close and that is the only way they can steal the election...

6. yeah, as far as the polls, WTF??
Obama had received a 12% bump up in the polls fromhis trip to Europe and then the 2,000 yr old man says, Neener Neener Neener you didn't visit the wounded troops in Germany, and now he's a lsoer??
it just doesn't make sense...

And of course, I too worry abt another election theft.

4. Obama is going to win
Edited on Sat Aug-02-08 03:35 PM by Phx_Dem
but everyone has to steel themselves for a very ugly campaign. It's only going to get worse. Ugly is the only way Republicans know how to play, and McCain is just as ugly as the rest of them. On a personal level, he's much worse because of his hair-trigger volcanic temper. Any man that would call his wife the c-word, is an extremely ugly person in his heart and soul.

5. McCain gaining "strength"?
Which is not based on his policies, but solely on the free ride he gets from the MSM spinning his disgusting negativity around on Obama.

This week is NOT a failure on Obama's part - it's the MSM giving McCain's poison campaign a boost. But as several have noted, going this toxically negative this early can't be good for McCain, nor can basing a campaign largely on tearing down one's opponent.

Obama is fighting several fronts: McCain and his supporters, the MSM, PUMAs who claim to be "Democrats", and the hand-wringers who are supposed to make up some of Obama's base. I wish his own party support were stronger, but that's what he has. I'm confident he and his campaign will do everything they can strategically to get this win despite the opponents and detractors.

7. It's been a stressful week, especially coming after the success
of his superb Mideast and European tour. But I think you're wise to trust Obama and his campaign.

What we all need to do now, instead of second guessing them, is roll up our sleeves, volunteer and register votes, and help deliver his victory in November.
