A couple of predictions...
Obama will give a barn burner of an acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention and it will be an impossible act for McCain to follow. Obama will get a huge bump in the polls that will carry him into November.

McCain started the mud slinging too early. People will be tired of it by September.

In September, regular people will have to outfit their kids for school or they will be struggling with how to funds college. Loans have dried up and prices for everything are through the roof. Having coped with the back to school crisis, here is what October brings...

Come October, regular folks will be trying to figure out how to pay for oil to heat their homes. The price of oil will have dropped because of Bush Administration manipulation, so people who locked in at a higher price this summer will be pissed, and those of us who didn't will still be looking at outrageous prices. The American people will vote their pocketbooks and will be thrilled at the idea that people making more than $250K are going to see their taxes go up.

It's the dog days of summer, folks. Most people are not paying close attention to this race. We at DU are among that small % of the electorate who are watching closely. We should all relax a bit and gather up our strength for the Fall when the real campaign begins. :-)
