Call me naive - but thanks Keith - I think you read my email?
I sent this to my friend in the Obama campaign who went to school with
him in Hawaii and copied Keith.

Just watched Claire McCaskill on TV - she did a fair job defending Obama about the McCain claims that
Obama is not supporting the troops

I wish she and EVERYONE else on the campaign would bring up the legitimate facts that

McCAIN voted AGAINST putting a minimum on time between redeployments !!

McCAIN was AGAINST Jim Webb's GI Bill of Rights !!

McCAIN voted AGAINST funds for mental health care for soldiers returning from Iraq.

Please, please, tell them to do some easy homework and pass out talking points !!!

The campaign's response:
"I know we're doing military and veterans forums to counter this in GA. Its part of a national strategy‏"

My response:
I am talking about the national stage NOW, with our campaign and surrogates - McCain and surogates are drumming the beat - about
Obama not visiting the troops in Germany - McCain's new ad says he went to gym instead. This
will have an effect unless we start rebuttal asap - and there is plenty in McCain's record against
the troops.

The Obama campaign has been good so far on instant reactions to McCain - but not bringing up McCain's record - fair game
facts seems to me and others as a glaring omission.

Thank God, Keith just ticked off EVERY SINGLE vote McCain made against the troops.

I LOVE YOU KEITH

1. When Keith was listing McCain's votes
I couldn't help but hope that ABC, CBS, NBC will pick up the information and that our candidate's campaign would get hot on the McCain ad rebuttal. I got to thinking, though, that the list that demonstrates McCain's hypocrisy will be very useful after the conventions. I think the Obama camp has some big surprises in store for Sen. McCain.

I think you are right. Keith read your email! Good work and thanks.

2. Well, I hope you are right. I think that there is a goldmine of
legitimate information that needs to come to light. It always seems like Obama
is put on a spotlight - and forced to explain every last single word he says.
Meanwhile, McCain skates along with his down-home generalities. No one
presses him at all.

Isn't he going to be on MTP Sunday? Hope the grill him the same way they grilled O.

3. what to you think?
just saw the rerun....that is some nasty list, and sounds MUCH worse when read on TV

you won't see this repeated many places

it's up to the dem surrogates to FORCE the conversation to consider these votes/lack thereof as long as this BS continues about Obama not supporting the troops

4. I love politics - but the absolute worst part is when we see
things that are so crystal clear, campaigns don't, and we can not do anything about it.

There are many, many good ideas here at DU. If only we
could harness it all and have a candidate who would
actually listen.

I presented the idea to the DNC in 04- capturing legitmate ideas
from here and sending them to them once a week. Of course,
no reply.

Just think, if everyone here came up with comebacks, campaign and ad
ideas. The cream of the crop would be fantastic.

I think there may be a little bit of egotism involved. "They" are
running the show and "they" know best. All of us know that
the best can come from many minds.
