Why didn't McCain offer to go to Iraq and Afghanistan with Obama??

I'm sure they could have found a seat on the plane? But, maybe he will go after Obama gets back?

However, since he is the big expert on the area, would that not have been the "statesmen" thing to do? Perhaps he was afraid he would be shown up by the young novice? Or perhaps other reasons? I guess he didn't want to be associated with Chuck Hagel, the other Repub on the trip?

But once Obama returns, he might suggest that McCain return to both countries since things do change in a matter of months? He could put pressure on McCain to go to both countries. Wouldn't that be a sweet return volley? :rofl:
