7/16/08: MSNBC Obama Lovefest
Edited on Wed Jul-16-08 10:13 AM by Skwmom
So far:

Obama is all unicorn and rainbows who is just too darn naive to understand that change is going to be difficult and he will take office and be a disaster. Hmmm... may have something to do with the polls that show Americans are really scared about the state of things.

Obama is arrogant and mean to Clinton supporters. But what the heck, as the Jib Jab video pointed out, you can vote for Clinton in 2012, it's only a mere 4 years (so hint, hint, don't vote for Obama). The country can wait. We are borrowing billions from China to fund a war that is not making us safe, the economy is going south, our financial markets are a disaster, and people are losing their homes and jobs. But hey, the little people can wait four more years.

Obama is all unicorn and rainbows who is just too darn naive to understand that change is going to be difficult and he will take office and be a disaster.

Obama is doing nothing to help other Democrats get elected (the selfish b*st*rd) and having a difficult time raising money.

Oh yeah and did I forget to mention - Obama is all unicorn and rainbows who is just too darn naive to understand that change is going to be difficult and he will take office and be a disaster. How many times will they show the Jib/Jab video? Of course, being the wonderful corporate media that they are, they did let the owners of Jib Jab plug their other business (ecards). So all of you creative types listen up...come through for the corporate media and you too will be rewarded with FREE ADVERTISING. And nice comment on how Obama is just a fairytale.

They really need to bring Chuckie T back on to reinforce the message that Obama will be a disaster if elected. Hey Chuckie, I see that you are well on your way to hosting your own show in the future. Keep up the good work!

On McCain. He is a TOUGH guy, vote for him and he will keep us safe, and it will prove your manhood (versus the liar Obama who will say anything to get elected, e.g., bring the troops home tomorrow, health care for all). Oh and he is speaking to the NAACP about education, he will be a better commander in chief than Obama, and McCain ONLY has low black voter supporter b/c GASP, he's running against a black man. Otherwise, those black voters would only be happy to vote for Bush's third term. Wow, the corporate owned media is SO TOUGH on McCain. How does he handle it?

15. No one's calling you stupid.
It's just that you missed the point of the OP.

You don't have to be stupid to miss the sarcasm. It's just a misunderstanding.

3. Come on. MSNBC has been great today!
Edited on Wed Jul-16-08 10:10 AM by ErinBerin84
So far, They've reported on (breaking news) Hillary Clinton's new haircut (along with political "analyst" to tell us what her changing her part MEANS; how Queen Elizabeth is mad bc she doesn't have enough money to update Buckingham Palace, What Star's Jone's soon to be ex husband Al Reynolds is saying about her in a new interview, the upcoming movie The Dark KNight...I could go on, and I am not kidding about what they are reporting on. I think I have a few suggestions on stories for them if they so desperately need to fill up space...

6. MSNBC isn't known for hiring the sharpest tools in the shed.

Campaign Alert. McCain is speaking to the NAACP and he will tell them that he will increase educational benefits and he will praise Obama in his speech. Heck, he can leave the bashing to the corporate media, the RNC, and those already focusing on 2012.

13. Now the astute, genius talking head is telling us how the Jib/Jab video skewers both Obama and
McCain.

Hmmmm.... it must be a figment of my imagination that the video seems to reinforce McCain "perceived" strong points and repeat damaging false memes about Obama.

16. I actually thought the jib jab video was pretty even
but I could do without Chucky T's analysis of it.

18. Step back and look at what message the video is trying to infer and reinforce.
Edited on Wed Jul-16-08 10:54 AM by Skwmom
What message does it reinforce about McCain: He is strong, he will keep us safe. He is a war hero. A vote for him reinforces your manhood b/c real men only vote for McCain. Yeah he's talked about a gas tax to get elected but Obama is far worse with his promise to bring the troops home tomorrow (not true and it feeds into the Obama will act irresponsibly with Iraq by doing what is merely easy and political and that he has changed his position on Iraq) and health care for all. Yeah, it does address his age, that he could keel over, and has had skin cancer but IMO these are weak. What about Lieberman whispering in his ear, getting confused, hugging Bush, being Bush's third term etc. There was A LOT of good material to pick from to skewer McCain and they chose weak material.

What message does it reinforce about Obama: He'll just talk about change (as Clinton and McCain join ranks in the video and point out). He's a fairytale, O-bambi, all rainbows and unicorns, who is too weak to keep this country safe. And he will promise anything to get elected. When he says he will bring the troops home and provide health care he is just saying that. On edit: And of course, don't forget - You can vote for Clinton in four years if McCain wins.

Sorry, but I think it was far from balanced.

20. Of course the twit thinks it's brilliant b/c it reinforces all of the bogus crap about Obama they
are trying to get Americans to buy into, and reinforces the fake media created image of McCain.

McCain is the ultimate media created candidate.

21. I hope that Joe Scarbs little morning rant about how
"African Americans don't respect an American war hero (in relation to the bogus NYT poll spin), but you can't make fun of Obama bc he is black" shows up on Media Matters so I see the whole text, sorry (not) that I missed that gem this morning. Yet, Mike Barnacle claims that the people who write emails to them complaining about the way they cover Obama have low IQs...

14. Well, they screwed up because they had the reporter on from Wash Post who knew to point
out that McCain's voting against and fighting the Martin Luther King holiday has a little to do with why he has a bottom of the barrel rating with African American.

Oh, no - some facts instead of just the "he's running against the black guy so all the black people hate him" meme.

Am I terrible for thinking that if it had been a white reporter from the Washington Post then they may not have thought of that little tidbit as being a reason for McCain's terrible rating with Blacks?

to get with the program.
