1. There's proof he was there in january actually
but he bluffed when he said it was Christmas Eve. The real asshole here is Dick Nixon cause he said there were no US troops in Cambodia.

6. Nixon wasn't president until 1/20/69.
There is something wrong with this story.

9. Kerry told the story years later...
1986 maybe? (someone can confirm the actual date)

What he was saying was that when Nixon said that there were no Americans in Cambodia, Kerry knew he was lying, because he'd been in Cambodia sometime earlier.

Sorry, this is all from memory of a few different stories, so the details might be off a bit. But that's the general gist of the story.

Sid

and disorderly.

4. How About This?
Christmas in Cambodia

December 1968

What Kerry has said: Over the years, he has repeatedly said he was illegally ordered into Cambodia during Christmas 1968. Last week, his campaign issued a statement saying he was in Cambodia but did not specify a date.

What his challengers say: At the time, Kerry was stationed in an area about 50 miles from the Cambodian border, and he never entered that country then or at any other time during his service in Vietnam.

What available military records say: Kerry's boat at the time, PCF-44, was 40 to 50 miles south of the Cambodian border at 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve. With a cruising speed of 23 knots, the boat could have reached the border in about two hours, but there is no archival evidence it did so.

John Kerry has stated elsewhere that he was ferrying CIA agents into Cambodia; this isn't the sort of thing that would show up as "archival evidence."

5. Why does this get more talk (mixup on dates) than taking time "off"
from cushy guard duty to work a political campaign in Alabama?

7. I think Kerry's journal confirms his Christmas in Camodia story
(reposting this from another thread for your input)

"Again you pull away from a pier and you start out on patrol -- through a rickety drawbridge that pulls only one side up at an angle and that forces you to daringly pas your radar only inches away from destruction and court martials and investigations and when you get through you say the hell with the world and bask in self congratulations and cockiness."

One of the SB vets has said Kerry couldn't have been in Cambodia, because he would have been court martialed.

8. This nit-picking about WHERE
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 01:37 PM by Karenina
John Kerry was and when has so long since worked my last nerve. HE SHOWED UP. Where the HELL was the *dauphin???

Honorable men have weighed in to pinpoint JK's whereabouts and behaviour. To date NOT ONE SINGLE SOLITARY SOUL has come forward to vouch for the *dauphin. No pix, no official records that don't contradict themselves, NO NOTHING. I wanna know WHERE THE HELL IS THAT JAMES R. BATH FELLER? Anyone seen him recently? Isn't he the one whose name was blacked out of *dimson's military records? Weren't they running buddies? Why doesn't HE come forward to vouch for the *boy?

11. Shrubster doesn't remember those years
they were lost in an alcohol and blow haze that lasted until the 80s.

I love how there are plenty of veterans saying they served with Kerry (even if they didn't) and not ONE human on the face of God's green earth has come forth to say they served with shrub anywhere! That is more telling IMHO.

And I don't blame Kerry for entering Cambodia or for killing that armed teenager. I don't even blame shrub for dodging the draft...er...joining TANG. I blame the god damn "liberal" media for trashing Kerry while giving the chimp a free pass. Those whores have an obligation to give both sides equal scrutiny but they are in dereliction of duty.

14. Andrea Mitchell, subbing for Matthews last night on Hardball, had
RIchard Holbrooke on after Fund/Crawford/Oliphant.

She actually asked him if he knew anything about the Cambodia story. He said while he was in Nam he was over there as a civilian. He then went on to say that basically he didn't really give a damned about Cambodia and went on to discuss some of the messes Bush created and troop redeployment. He said that announcing troop reductions in S. Korea while N. Korea is still messing with its nukes was pretty much..........bad news.

15. Another good example of seizing the microphone
Mitchell trie sto pin Holbrooke down on where/when, Holbrooke turns it into an opportunity to discuss Bush's misguided and dangerous policies.

That technique should be on page one of the JK surrogate How-To manual. Howard Dean has got the technique down pat, so do Wes Clarke and a few others. But some still need to work on it.
