5. I voted "McCain" for pretty much that reason.
He's the one whose party isn't that thrilled with him -- they're probably looking for a VP that would generate some excitement and calm some fears. He needs the distraction more than we do. (I love how I state that so positively :eyes:)

3. I thought there was talk of McCain making his announcement the day after Obama's acceptance speech.
An attempt to squash Obama's bounce from the convention. Just a rumor, though.

Doesn't mean, however, that McCain won't break with tradition, particularly if he thinks by doing so he forces Obama to act on a different schedule than he may have planned.
