Something coming down at the NYT on Swift Boat Story!!!!!
EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AGAINST ANTI-KERRY VETS

More than 3 weeks after the DRUDGE REPORT began shooting up flares warning of an impending campaign battle surrounding former Vietnam veterans who would not support John Kerry for president -- the media empire strikes back!

(snip)

TIMES editor Bill Keller has reserved the lead of Page One for "the story of how swift boat veterans with a grievance were found by Republicans looking to tarnish Kerry's image," newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

"A modern day tale of the creation of a political attack machine," declares TIMES reporter Jim Ruttenburg.

The TIMES plans to piggyback on comments made by John Kerry on Thursday against allegations that he exaggerated his combat record in Vietnam.

did what he did today. He must've known about this story coming out.

make a few points with his little scooplet--and anyway it gives him something to point at whenever we slap him around for being the little Rove tool that he is.

22. The NYT is NOT on our side. But even they have to deal with the facts
when they are overwhelming.

The NYT was derelict during the 2000 campaign and in the reporting on 9-11 and the build up to the Iraq war. They have shilled for BushInc almost as much as the Washington Post.

27. Did you miss the Time's during the Clinton years?
They smeared Bill Clinton nearly every day for eight years!

They have kissed Bush's ass since he took office, but during the Clinton years they repeated lies and right wing talking points daily.

The NY Times was no friend of the Clinton administration.

37. exactly, that lying NYT bastard Jeff Gerth
with his Whitewater and other BS stories about Clinton never suffered any repudiation, reprimand or other consequences for his fabrications but Jason Blair was served up on a platter. The Times screwed Clinton and Gore, shirked its 4th estate responsibility during the Iraq War buildup and has given Bush fellatio from day one.

Some friend. And if the grey lady is coming around, I say too little, too slowly and possibly too late!

29. While this is good news, blm, is correct, Judith Miller pushed us into War
with Iraq because of her ties with Chalabi...and by default was a "stovepipe" for PNAC. The NYTimes and Washington Post have been no friends of ours. Did you miss reading their apologies to their readers for not reporting all the information about the fake WMD? Both newspapers apoloogized but never fired the culprets.

Still it's good news, but don't ever believe what all they say because they are forced to report the "truth" now and then. :hi: peace!

40. As I said on the other thread, it's great that it pulls it back in the end
to what it's really all about: their belief that Kerry's 1971 testimony (and VVAW) are the direct cause of the anti-military sentiment they confronted when they returned.

The rest is just recent fabrications.

45. This is something I would expect to read in the
Guardian, or on Commondreams..

"Records show that the group received the bulk of its initial financing from two men with ties to the president and his family - one a longtime political associate of Mr. Rove's, the other a trustee of the foundation for Mr. Bush's father's presidential library. A Texas publicist who once helped prepare Mr. Bush's father for his debate when he was running for vice president provided them with strategic advice. And the group's television commercial was produced by the same team that made the devastating ad mocking Michael S. Dukakis in an oversized tank helmet when he and Mr. Bush's father faced off in the 1988 presidential election."

Do you think they thought their transperancy would ever be on the Front Page of the NYT?
