Dear DUers - I need help with a question, please
It's about Obama renouncing public financing.

His much-vaunted "agreement" that he "signed" saying (as the republi-CONS are trying to insist) that he would accept public financing if his opponent did so -

Didn't he announce his decision FIRST, BEFORE mcsame jumped in and hollered that he was accepting public financing - as in -AFTER THE FACT? Maybe just to try to make Obama look bad?

Or had mcsame already accepted it BEFORE Obama made his decision?

I'm not sure of the timeline here.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help set me straight on this. I haven't been able to find it in my own searching so far.

Thank you very much in advance!

3. Yep
That was going to be my reply. And I would emphasize that Obama's donor base is mainly people who contributed under $200. I'd call that public financing.

4. I don't see how you could NOT call that public financing!
I must admit, though, that I DO feel a great sense of trepidation that MoveOn.org has laid down its arms as far as its 527 goes. That may be a mistake. I think we need to leave our flanks better protected than that. Especially when you consider what, and whom, we're up against.
