Hey Hand Wringers- Kerry Is Winning This battle
It's hand to hand combat, but we are winning this argument. Everytime this is held up to the light the cockroaches disintegrate. Kerry looked very tough today.

1. I said this waaaayy back in the Iowa campaign
that Kerry is a fighter, never ever underestimate this guy. He is a whole lot smarter than the repub attack machine and has Mary Beth Cahill on his team. From what I've been able to tell, she takes no crap from anyone.

3. OMG! OMG! OMG! It's all over for Kerry ... he's done, he's dead, he's gone
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/11/11/kerry/index_np.html

Kerry's last hurrah?
On the road with Sen. John Kerry in must-win New Hampshire, as he fires his campaign manager, punches up his stump speech, and slashes harder at Howard Dean. But he's still trailing badly, and time is running out.
....

Nov. 11, 2003 | DOVER, N.H. -- Trailing Howard Dean by double digits in New Hampshire with just nine weeks until that crucial primary election, the Massachusetts senator is finally acting with some urgency, shaking up his staff, trimming his garrulous stump style, and launching daily attacks on Dean.

On Sunday Kerry replaced campaign manager Jim Jordan with Democratic activist Mary Beth Cahill, who worked for the women's group Emily's List and Sen. Edward Kennedy. Jordan's ouster had long been rumored.

<more>

As a former Clark supporter, I have no doubt that Kerry's campaign knows what it is doing ... I saw it here in NH first-hand--I actually *laughed* at the poor group of Kerry supporters I saw outside Clark's rally, where a couple hundred packed in to see the general. Well, he who laughs last ... becomes the next President of the United States!

4. I agree - Kerry is using his smarts
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 07:31 PM by rumguy

Everyone wants Kerry to throw some kind of magical knock out punch, but that is not a wise strategy. It opens you up to attack and if you miss you're screwed.

Kerry is working the chimp over good. He's doing it with class and precision and with a judo-like panthertic cunning.

Kerry is ahead in the swing states. The chimp's campaign is like a man trapped in quicksand, the more he struggles the more his campaign sinks.

5. I've been think this, too.
I mean, Kerry has been pulling slightly ahead in the polls, and the undecideds usually swing for the challenger. So we are winning, right? And Kerry has the reputation as a strong closer so he should get better closer to election day. Why do something risky this early in the game and risk it all when you don't have to.

7. We *are* winning!!!!
Don't get bogged down in the day-to-day spin static.

The swift vets are going to get cut up into little shreds and in a few years they will be nothing but a distant and unpleasant memory.

Kerry is wise. He is thoughtful. When he goes in, he goes in for the kill.

8. The winger desperation is showing

I hang out on some right wing message boards - and you can tell that even they are having trouble peddling some of the lamer spin points.

Spin only works when it is at least tangentially rooted in a factual reality, when it becomes unhinged from factual reality it becomes a psychosis and an insanity.

9. I think so, too
based on just a few minutes of channel surfing when I got home from work this evening. The Swiftboat Liars are going to sink the chimp boat.

11. and Kerry finished the AWOL today with a final punch ... the totally
scary smart approach Kerry took by NOT panicking resulted in:
1. making the repug gizillionaires pay for mud that turns into quicksand
2. allowing "critical mass" to be reached within the echo chamber while Kerry himself retains and proclaims a principled position of denouncing dirty attack ads, even if made in support of Kerry
3. succeeding in getting the bought-and-paid-for media into the truth frey because, in the end, nature abhors a vacuum ... thank you WaPo
4. AND THEN, taking the fight DIRECTLY to that opponent (who by now looks like pants on fire)with the powerful: bring it on!

Let's face it, by the time AWOL got punched today by Kerry, the results of the fight and the scorecards were obvious.

13. Kerry is much better than we give him credit for.
He hangs back, takes punches, looks like he's going to lose it all, then....BAM! He takes the offensive.
