Has John McCain done a rally in 2008 with tens-of-thousands of attendees?
In St. Paul, MN on June 3, 2008, Obama addressed 17,000 people inside plus 15,000 people outside watching on a screen:

1. I don't think so
Not that many people would want to hear McCain's drone like voice.

3. Minnesota has Election Day registration.
Even if they weren't registered, they can briefly step off-the-line at the polls in November, register with the help of an election worker carrying a portable computer, and then return to the line and vote.

4. rally attendance does not equal GE votes; neither do caucuses. O got more people at his rally here
in SD a while ago than hillary got at hers, but she still beat him by 10+ points. bottom line is personality types; O supporters are more likely to be rally goers than hillary or mccain voters. doesn't mean that there are more of them in the general population.

5. No, but having a motivated group of supports is very important
A good ground game can make the difference in a close race.
