What do you hate most about John McCain?
Personally, the thing I hate most is his transparent pandering and willingness to say anything for self advancement. From reproductive rights to marriage equality, from tax cuts for the wealthy to torture he's changed his stance on every issue out there when he thought it would help him politically. I wouldn't trust a single word he says on anything because I know he'll change his position in a heartbeat if he thinks there's something in it for himself.

So what does everyone else hate?

worries me. A lot.
He is dangerous.
Possibly more dangerous than Bush.

16. Such a hard word
I guess I'd rather just vehemently disagree with him.

I think I'm disappointed in John McCain. Once I thought he was almost electable, and I daresay that the last eight years would have been less of a mess if McCain had beat Bush in 2000.

I've always respected him, as I do any long-sitting senator or congressperson, for being a touch more passionate in his arguments, and a bit more willing than his fellows to work with the other side of the aisle.

But in his turn toward the presidency, his fire has been replaced with a sort of slow burn, fueled by a baser set of conservative coals: relijun, imposing morality, fear of the other.

But the country has changed, and the worn-out failures the Bush regime dared to call policies have worn us to the bone, and we all know we have a long way to go until the watering hole. The should-have-retired-years ago camel who regularly confuses Shia with Sunni is not the right one to lead us there.

18. His "Johnnie Tailhook" attitude towards women
It's a common attitude amongst naval aviators, and McCain has had it his entire life.

Women are objects to the likes of John McCain, not people.

23. That his ideals are pliable to the point of nonexistant
When you get past his insane conviction that American hegemony is a virtue to be extolled endlessly, he doesn't give a fuck about policy.

If child molesting became popular, he'd do it on American Idol with that creepy fucking grin of his going full blast the whole time.

Watch his MSNBC interview after the SOTU. He was either drunk or stoned, but his basic attitude of bemused contempt was crystal clear.

26. He's a callous free-market, free-trader, job-offshorer bastard.
Witness his super pro-worker, populist message in Youngstown a couple months ago:

"Protectionism and isolationism have never worked in American history," McCain said at a town-hall-style meeting at Youngstown State University.

McCain said slowing free trade is not the answer; retraining is. He said he will improve government-assisted worker education programs in part by working closely with small and community colleges. Clinton and Obama have made similar proposals.

"I think the answer is to understand that, free trade or not, we are in an information and technology revolution," he said. "So we want people to be part of that revolution, and we've got to be part of that new economy."

Under his job-training plan, he said, "our workers will be given options and training relevant to need and at every turn treated with the respect and consideration they deserve."

Pressed by other questioners about competition from China and the loss of steel-industry jobs, he said, "I have to give you some straight talk. I can't turn that around."

And . . . and . . . and . . . polls between him and Obama are still CLOSE?

Are Americans fucking STUPID?

and it will be WWIII, make no doubt about it. USA, Israel, and Britain (we were just kidding about those WMDs, don't be mad :hi: ) on one side with Iran, Syria, and Russia on the other side. China will take the opportunity to put the smack down on Tibet and will flirt with finally taking back Taiwan.
