What would Bushco hope to ACCOMPLISH by attacking Iran?
I firmly believe it's in the air, and that they're building their case to support this action.

What I don't understand is why? Cui bono?

8. not just the Iraq mess but anything they might be investigated for under
the next administration. If McCain gets elected, they're home free. If Obama wins, they want him so busy dealing with "accidental" catastrophes that there won't be any time for a reckoning.

4. He'd secure future work and profits for businesses in the defense
industry.

Businesses will always be profitable. But some businesses will be EXTREMELY profitable when there is war.

5. Electing Republicans, Ma'am, Is What They Would Hope To Gain
It cannot be stated too often or too strongly that the guiding principle behind all actions of this administration is the distortion of our domestic politics: besides doing this in favor of lining the pockets of their cronies and themselves they have no goals at all, either domestic or foreign.

Their calculation in this matter is that if a new shooting war involving conventional forces in conventional and telegenic array is commenced during the campaign season, voters will be rallied to 'Republican strength on national security', and normal Democratic campaigning can be portrayed and sold as 'anti-patriotism' and 'siding with our terrorist enemies'.

14. Stating These Are Their Calculations, Sir, Is Not Stating Their Calculations Are Sound
Trying to evoke and enlist this war hysteria they have fed on earlier is the only card they have left to play, and they are used to it turning trump on the table. They look no further than that.

15. That's true. They did the Iraq push for 2002 and then mainly 2004 and did
not calculate what it would do to them in 2006.

20. Yeap, they're tryin to get theirs while the gettin is good. First thing I would do if I were Obama..
...would be to throw Bernanke out of his position cause he'd raise rates as high as he could as fast as he could seeing that he's a Bush butt boy.

11. The Final Nail In The Coffin of Our Country.........
Do you think we know where Osama Bin Laden is and he is running the WH? Because this supposedly was what OBL wanted - to bring the U.S. down on it's economic knees. I think *Co has almost accomplished that and with an attack on Iran - he will finish OBL mission. Oh - who was GWB Sr. meeting with on 9/11?

23. OBL's stated goals
1) Remove US troops from the Arabian peninsula.
Check. Our position in Saudi Arabia was ignominiously surrendered by Bush.
2) Overthrow Saddam Houssein.
Check. At the cost of several trillion dollars and 4 thousand plus American lives (and millions of Iraqi lives)
3) Bankrupt the USA
Well on its way

13. Iraq is not a big enough mess, people are still looking at bushco criminal activities
People must need conditions to get a lot worse so they are too busy staying alive to look at holding buch/cheney accountable for high crimes and war crimes.

If they get us in enough trouble, we don't have resources to fix anything.

16. Maybe another 9/11 style terrorist atack
...will just happen to take place shortly beforehand. Which can then be conveniently blamed on Iran, of course.

Declaration of martial law, suspension of elections to follow suit.

25. I don't think they'll go as far as attacking, but create some incident in October
and hope the old Republicans = better on security thing lasts. I think that's why Biden makes such a point of saying Democrats are BETTER on national security. Obama needs to point out
* 9/11 on their watch, with clear reports, Condi then made Sec of State rather than fired
* Iraq war on lies
* Al Qaeda in Iraq, wasn't before
* Afganistan unfinished
* Pakistan worse
* North Korea got scary, maybe getting better?
* Iran stronger
etc.

26. All I know is I do feel they will do this insane act
But why? I have no idea. What makes sense to them has never made sense to me.

I know they personally have nothing to lose and won't be in some camp or dealing with the madness. I know they don't care about the people or the economy, there are almost 8 years of evidence that shows this loud and clear.
