woohoo, Kerry's campaign called
Gonna call them back and do some campaign a few towns over. I think when I campaign, I am gonna showcase the fact that our guy is the ranking minority member of the small business committee, bring up he's a vet, you know position him from a moderate point of view, I know Kerry is mostly liberal but you have to play to your audience. Sad to say though, the breakfast didnt go so well being I got nervous but still, glad they called, I look forward to it.

2. np
I am so willing to do this. I start an internship second semester in DC so I will be starting that at the beginning of a new era, yet being somewhat traditional not in a political sense but in a personal sense, I plan to work for Ted Kennedy, one of the best guys in the senate and quite possibly Kerry's possible key legislation pusher in the senate, this is an advantage I am glad to take advantage of being a DC area resident

9. its part of the benefits of living here
I am telling you, this guy will be Kerry's pusher of legislation in the senate, maybe that will mean I'll get to meet Kerry.

5. Kerry's strength is in his supporters...
Fire fighters, police officers, veterans, union workers (who just want a day's pay for a day's work), true Christians (and other religious followers) who believe that God (or other deity's name) wants us to help those less fortunate.

Are all of these groups "misguided," as Bush* supporters would have you believe?

Can these groups all be wrong about the sad state of affairs in our beloved country today?

Thanks for walking the walk, Johnkleeb!

6. those are some of the people I admire most
I dont have any fire fighters or cops in my family but boy do I admire them, going in so bravely in 9/11, they remind me of the vets who do things not for glory but because its the right thing to do, Harold Schraitberger, one of Kerry's earliest and loyaliest supporters and head of the fire fighters union is from NoVA, he's my personal union hero right now, my other one is John L Lewis. The union members are always a great help, I think a man like Dick Gephardt who I know we're not all fans of can help rally these guys and women. The truly religious are a great bunch, I count myself as one of them, I am a private Catholic I guess but I do consider myself religious and find nothing wrong with it. Sure, its no problem, I am gonna be so open to do this kind of stuff once my job expires in August, then I'll have a lot of time but then school starts but still, I can discuss the election in class and do work after school, I am the head of research in the young democrats at my HS, so I am the one whos gonna be getting the dirty dirt heh.

11. When I was your age (during the late 60's/early 70's)...
we ignored (at our own peril) the Republican activism on campuses and in our cities' business organizations (Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Elks, etc.).

We assumed that smart people could see right through them.

We were so wrong!

They were mobilized and organized!

We should have been pinning info flyers on every single bulletin board, taping them on the insides of bathroom stall doors, and slipping them inside books in the campus bookstore!

We should have hosted issues discussions at least once per week, and we should have staged media-attractive events, designed to force local officials to answer our questions.

12. I know the GOP is big around here but the youth
are quite democratic with the occassional right winger, the kid I know whos family supported Keyes for instance but they go to Catholic school which isnt a reflection of all Catholic School bred people because my dad is and hes one of my infleunces, the ROTC crowd is by and large right wing too. I am gonna sway people to vote democratic, I didnt do that good job for Gore but lets be honest, I think I can make a better case for Kerry than I can Gore, many of these people want to own businesses when they are older, not a dream of mine personally, but I think if they know Kerry is a big supporter, they'll like it, of course I'll tell his more liberal views on drugs and what not, etc, thats for the students not their parents :D.

10. Its gonna be done a lot during after school
I am already doing the party a service by being the research goon in young democrats, as well as a political science class attendee which enables me to do the internship which will be a thing I will enjoy despite being shy and reserved but I love a good discussion, hopefully I can sway some of the older seniors this year to vote Kerry, I am quite young for a senior, I just turned 17 but I like to think people do look up to me somewhat after all my smarts have been appreciated in history class, now science thats another story :D.

14. Nah just doing my job
I was told when I woke up this morning, they had called so I am gonna try to wake up then call, by wake up I mean the usual, I am still a little tired, and have a headache. Its not a big deal really, I think knowing who my audience will be, I'll present Kerry from a more moderate perspective that is the head of the small business commmittee, the Vietnam vet, the guy who is for keepign their tax cuts, and a guy who will protect the nation.

Kerry is credited with saving the life of GOP Senator from Nevada. I printed up some of these and gave them to some people who I know are on the fence. None had heard of this story.

17. I think it's a great story - local offices
should be handing out reprints of this story to voters. It says a lot about his character which is always the focal point of any GOP attack.
