Daring to believe
I am young by some peoples standards. I was not alive to witness John's presence first hand, nor Bobby's courageous speeches. All I have to go on is film strips of the times, and other peoples accounts of those days in our history. Throughout my life to this point, I have wavered between parties always looking for something that was never there to be found. A depth of character maybe.. a general magnetism by a person / candidate which makes you believe. I can say without doubt, I never did find such qualities, until now.

The hardest thing for me to do, is believe that Obama is this person, a person who holds these qualities that in my perception, reflects those of great men in our past. I think it is the actual glimmer of hope that scares me. The fear of being let down; that all that we see is a mirage. We have been lied to by politicians for so long it almost becomes second nature to doubt. But to be truly honest, my greatest fear is what I have learned from the past, and if I've learned nothing else, I've learned great men and women are seldom given to us for long. What's the saying.. power corrupts...

Soon, we will have our candidate to move forward to the GE, and that candidate will be Obama. I have no ill feelings for Hillary, nor her supporters for in the bigger picture, they to are fighting for their dream of a better way of life, and a better country for us all. All people are entitled to their dreams, and to take away such things from people reflects poorly on those doing the taking. We will have time to come together as a party, and then as a country. If Obama is the man I think he is.. that I believe in my heart that he is and will continue to be, he will move forward and show our country, and the rest of the world what it once meant to be an American, and help us to find deep down, that we all are truly capable of coming together as one.

2. Obama has the better chance at this. However...
I would temper your hopes with pragmatism. The way we elect presidents ensures that the absolute best leaders in this country will never be in office. The best we can hope for is to eliminate the worst candidates.

Don't get your hopes up too high. Obama is no Saint, but he is a very good man.

You nailed it and very fair too. "We are the ones" and we will keep him honest.
