In North Carolina, SUSA finds surprising results: Hillary Clinton is leading McCain 49% to 43%, while Obama is trailing 51% to 43%

5. Neither North Carolina or Virginia are good states for Obama.
In the general election, half of the electorate isn't going to be black like it was in the primaries.

8. I don't believe that either candidate is leading in North Carolina.
Most likely, both of them will lose by 10. Hillary would do a bit better however.

Both of them will lose Virginia too.

13. As I said, I don't believe either candidate is leading in VA either.
That being said, Hillary would do better in Virginia if she was the nominee, because she would be able to tap into Western Virginia, as it contains a pocket of Appalachia. Both Democrats will do better than Kerry (R+8), but neither will win the state.
