The penny just dropped. The REAL casualty if Obama wins.
A few brave souls here made a comment or four about pantsuit city, the impact of gravity on Hillary's weight, and once, about the soft-gel lenses her campaign demands for every TV appearance.

I am convinced that Obama has wrapped up the nomination, and most likely the presidency, saving us from FORE! more years of "bad to worse". But I do feel the pain. I feel the sorrow. I feel the depression that is being felt by political cartoonists across the world.

Obama is not an easy subject to caricature, to identify with a few strokes of an ink brush. W is mainly big ears, small brain, just like the real thing. For now, Obama is big ears with black hair (for the lazy artist). He is harder to pin down with humor/ attack.

But Hillary would have be just pure gold. Thick-hipped, heavily wrinkled, round-eyed, waving at a specific no one in a non-existent crowd, always in a pantsuit, and round cheekbones, she was the quick draw dream for political cartoonists everywhere.

damn. Poor folks. They've have to learn how to do black men in a much more convincing way.

Edited on Thu May-22-08 05:05 PM by fed_up_mother
Unless you're a long-legged newsreader being paid for your looks, and therefore have a reason to wear a dress, it's sometimes easier to sit comfortably in pants - not that I don't wear and like dresses, as well.

6. Obama wears pantsuits often.
Men just don't call them that.

If you're dressing for business, you wear a suit.
If you're a woman, the suit comes with pants, or with a skirt.

If I was going to be flying around and speaking all the time, I'd wear pants, too. (As it is, I more often wear skirts because I'm short-legged and I usually don't need to get skirts altered).

Why, of all things, does their wardrobe matter?

39. The demise of pantyhose has been particularly hard on older women
Edited on Fri May-23-08 08:55 AM by fed_up_mother
who would like something to smooth out their legs. I started noticing many older, more fashionable women in my community switching to pantsuits when hose went out of fashion a few years ago.

And although I have nice legs for age fifty, quite frankly, I'm now hiding them under pants as well. Sun tanning isn't healthy, and spray tans are way too expensive. These white legs under a black skirt? :(

26. Um..
I really dislike Hillary but I really really do not envy her clothing options. It's just not cool to pick on. As a guy, I personally don't like to wear suits but at least they are classic and come in many different styles. "Serious business" clothing for women is just weird, has a pretty short history, and just hasn't really found its groove yet.

24. You can bet Lorne Michaels is searching for a new cast member even as we speak.
If SNL stays on the air another 8 years, he's going to need someone to play President Obama. And Fred Armisen just ain't cutting it.

8. Dude--who the hell raised you?
Edited on Thu May-22-08 05:08 PM by Perry Logan
Or madam, as the case may be.

You really shouldn't offend Hillary--and not only because you are not fit to lick Hillary's boots.

We're also going to need her to put the pieces together after the Obama Trainwreck of 2008.

Early in the primaries, Barack Obama promised that he would win more people over the longer he campaigned. He said that every state becomes an "Obama state" once he goes there. But an interesting thing happened as winter turned to spring, and the people kept voting in record numbers. Hillary Clinton stole the momentum. Her popularity soared; her appeal broadened; and she steadfastly became the darling of the masses, even as Barack was crowned darling of the mass media.

It started back in New Hampshire, when Hillary "found her voice," but what really happened is that the American people have found Hillary. And there's nothing like raw data to illustrate the point:

*The Electoral Vote "Poll Watcher" shows Hillary gaining steam against McCain, now leading 310 to 228, with Hillary winning key states like Florida, North Carolina, and West Virginia. (Obama trails McCain by over 30 EV's.)

*Over the last three months, Hillary has won more contests, gained more votes, and earned more delegates. Since March 4th, she has gained nearly 500,000 more popular votes than Barack Obama as voters in crucial battleground states have made their voices known.

*More Americans have voted for Hillary than any other presidential candidate this cycle. In fact, more people have voted for Hillary than any other primary candidate in history - nearly 18 million so far.

*Tuesday, Hillary won 150,000 more votes than Obama in Kentucky and Oregon, even though delegate counts will be split fairly evenly.

*Hillary has now won nearly 64,000 more votes than Obama in total, when all caucuses and primaries are included.

Hillary Clinton just keeps winning. She is the candidate who closes the deal with voters. Despite being out-spent by margins of up to 4-to-1; despite anxious efforts by Obama, his surrogates, and an obedient press corps to convince people that the race is over. They keep voting for her anyway. Thankfully there's a stubborn gene in the American people, a natural resistance to authority, and maybe that's why the people love Hillary. They see her get up with the roosters every day, work herself to exhaustion in pursuit of a dream, and never give up or give in to the nay-sayers. Hillary, in spite of all the odds, has become a genuine Made in the USA hero, a leader for the people and no longer just "Bill's wife," the other Clinton.

21. LOL here I lament the hard task of cartoonists, and their regret that
an easy target will not be there day to day, and people think this is an ATTACK on Hillary?

first, the subject is political cartoonists. They skewer people for a living, and no amount of attacks on mois will change that reality. It only shows just how close-minded, inane, unaware, naive, and frustrated some Hillaryans are.

second, the subject is STILL political cartoonists, with an honest appraisal that Barack is a tougher subject than, say, a Jimmy Carter (beloved by all cartoonists), Mondale, Nixon, even Raygun and Ford. George W.H.A.B.C.D.E.F. Bush was a bit tougher, although his son made things easier, simply by being an idiot son. Clinton was a piece of cake, and still is.

Hillary would be easier than most. THAT IS THE POINT>

35. her ass? WHERE did I mention Bill Clinton? Huh? HUH?
wrinkles, well that is another issue.

When a campaign has people dedicated to insuring that the Soft-Gel #2 lens was used on every close up, AND they force media companies to remove non-gelled shots and video from public view, then I suggest that we can make that part of the issue - the creation of an image that is not true to life. Funny, that applies to all facets of Camp Hillary.
