More Nader-GOP Shenanigans
This time right here in the Granite State::
When the temp agency that hired her told her she would be collecting signatures for independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader, Emily Sawka became a little concerned. But she had been unemployed for two months and needed the $12-an-hour the job would pay.

-SNIP-

But Sawka threw up her hands altogether upon discovering that Adecco, an international temp agency that has an office in Portsmouth, had hired her out to a consulting firm with Republican ties.

-SNIP-

Sawka, 25, and six other workers hired through Adecco were directed to show up on Friday morning at Shaw’s supermarket in Stratham, near the dairy farm where Bush was to speak to supporters at a picnic that afternoon. She was given a clipboard and a script instructing her to tell those at the rally: "Without Nader, Bush would not be president."

-SNIP-

Sawka recalled that at the supermarket her boss explained that "what we are doing is collecting signatures for Ralph Nader in support of Bush, because if we can get Ralph Nader on the ballot, then that would take votes away from (Democratic candidate) John Kerry."
The NH GOP denies involvement, and Nader's spokesperson says, "I don’t think we’re being used by the Bush campaign." :eyes:

If anyone's interested, the NHDP's response is that the Nader campaign should "disavow and refuse the signatures that were collected obviously to help President Bush not his campaign." They have also provided this list of contacts for letters to the editor:

1. As I have said
That man is an ASS.

Beyond that, any vote for nader a paradox. Most people that I know who consider a vote for ralph also consider themselves "smarter" or "more enlightened" that the average voter.

The facts are these. A vote for ralph is sheer stupidity. It is more stupid to vote for ralph than it is to just vote for bushwad outright.

Why? Because the intellectual pride one seeks by casting a vote for ralph only emphasizes a stark and flimsy grasp on reality.

ralph is not presidential material. He is incapable of participating in anything other than the "ralph show" With his demonstrated inability to gather any sizable following here in the U.S. how could anyone believe that he would have what it takes to restore worldwide faith and cooperation in America?

Why cast a sideways vote for bushwad?

2. As Clinton said, we're the footmen (and women)
We have to talk the talk AND walk the walk. We always run the risk of being accountable for our candidates but we still fight the fight.

3. Some of Nader's followers literally want to destroy America.
I've seen it on this very board - the idea is to punish us with four years of Bush* and possibly collapse the entire country so that they can "rebuild".

4. Yeah, TWiley, that elitist attitude is what pisses me off...
At least with Republicans, they lack that air of condescension, instead incorporating a rather laughably ludicrous aegis of faux religiousness and mock patriotism that we all know is bullshit.

But the Naderites (aka die-hard Naderites, NOT former Nader/Green voters) are just so smug and snobby. Funny thing is that they rail against abuses against labour and corporations yet the major constituence of Nader is the white yuppie and their children who go to fancy universities. Some man of the people. I'm not denying Nader's great service to America in some of his deeds, but let's face it, he's not in touch with the common man. In fact, I wonder if Naderites hold the common man in scorn for their "ignorance" and "stupidity", compared to their own great philosophical intellect, in voting for people like Clinton, Gore, and Kerry.

LoZoccolo, that's the kind of fanatical attitude which betrays the ultimate self-centered yuppieism of Naderites. Most likely, they're not the ones losing jobs in the Rust Belt, or being deployed to Iraq via the National Guard, or seniors that can't afford prescription medicine or facing a privatized social security. It's just so inconceivably selfish and condescending to tell the people what's good for them even though it's obviously going to greatly harm them.

5. Or, they try to make everyone beg for their vote.
The Democratic platform is not perfect enough, I am still not entirely satisfied with John Kerry, we need a viable 3rd party system, bla, bla, bla, barf, barf.

Meanwhile, the building is on fire, and not a one of them can get their heads out of the clouds long enough to say ... "Hay, idealism is great for general guidance, and maybe we can return to this lofty discussion later, but the building is on fire and we will need some practical measures rather soon." "Does anyone know anyone with a phone number of someone who understands the theory of getting a bucket and filling it with water?"

At least bushwad would have the instinct to immediately do the wrong thing and shoot the man holding the bucket.

I cannot fathom the indecision.
