Conservative thinking would have destroyed the world
Edited on Mon May-19-08 12:53 PM by KKKarl is an idiot
Great progressive thinkers have always shaped American history. George Washington and the other founding fathers proposed a new form of government where the leader of the nation was elected for by the people and was for the people. They were told it was too hard it could not be done. On came further greats like Abraham Lincoln who finally was able to abolish slavery in the US. He was told to end slavery would destroy the American economy. It will destroy they way of life as it was known to the people of the day. Martin Luther King and JFK took it one step further to abolish prejudice from the laws of the land. They were told to do this would destroy the way of life of many Americans. These men were never conservatives. If they were they would have not fought against the status quo. They were progressives. every time these men came into power their ideals were knocked down by conservatives.

Soon we are going to have a new great leader in the White House by the name of Barak Obama. He proposes an end to American dependence on oil by finding alternative sources of energy. The same conservatives say it is too hard. We will destroy the American economy. We will destroy our way of life. It is too hard (whine, whine, whine). Have we heard these argument before. When are the people going to learn that progressive thinkers are going to be the ones to change the world. Conservatives are going to be the ones that destroy the world.

2. Yet our Party is working as hard as it can to bring Conservative
Democrats into Ascendency. H. Ford most accurately pointed out
on MTP Sunday--the Ascendency of Conservative Democrats. Obama
and the Red State Plan to win---does this in spades.

Just as GWB went west and racked up electoral votes, thus they
put him in the WH. He then was indebted---we got a RW Government.

Winning in Blue States in the past kept the Democratic Edge.

Just because we win red states, these people are not going to
suddenly become Progressive or Liberal.

Turn the Page to the ascendacy of Conservative Democrats.

3. umm...that already happened
And it was called the "DLC", "New Dems", etc.

Ever check out their voting history and their prominence in the party? This is not a small group.

The funny thing is...it was these DLC Democrats who thought that campaigning in the blue states alone would win elections. It didn't.

So you are warning us against something that already happened....and it happened at the hand of the same people who are against Obama now during their watch.

Campaigning only in blue states has contributed to the divide in this country. All states are welcome because all states have Democrats, progressives, and liberals.

4. Blue States with a few other southern and western states
was the winning formula. Blue States Dominated.

All I am saying is: it is rather strange to hit conservatism
hard and at same time do everything in one's power to continue
Conservatism.

5. You have not proven that
You have not proven that the 50 state strategy caters to conservatives over the Bob Shrum-run elections of the last 20 years. Those elections were all about running "to the middle", which inspired few and resulted in devastating and surprising losses.

Until you do that, you premise cannot be assumed.

Can you show that "blue states with a couple of others" has worked even once without a conservative spoiler in the election? Because from where I stand, it doesn't work and never has.

You are only trying to generate fear of Obama without any evidence whatsoever. His campaign strategy is not going to pull this party to the right because this party is already as far right as it can be without getting membership in the John Birch Society....and it was Hillary's political allies that made it that way.

Welcome to the new politics, and it doesn't operate on fear, nor does it seek to split the country up into red states and blue states to promulgate a cultural war. You want those politics....vote Hillary.

6. Damned few progressives left among the conservative Democratic Party.
Let's not mistake Obama for one...but maybe he can be trained, if we pull together.
