Lay down your sword and shield.
This is a message to those of us who were very disappointed in the Obama campaign's use of a homophobic spokesperson, Donnie McClurkin, during his South Carolina campaign earlier this year. I was one of those who was so offended it took me months to forgive Obama's campaign. I only came around when Obama's campaign put strongly pro-gay language on their website, and, more importantly, didn't use McClurkin or anyone like him again.

I know that there are many folks on DU who are still angry with Obama about McClurkin, and some of you are supporting Hillary because of it. I understand your anger and frustration. I'm gay myself.

However, Clinton's campaign has become more and more overtly racist. It's irrational to stay this angry with one campaign because of one bigoted incident while forgiving another candidate's campaign for an entire message that has become bigoted.

It's time to lay down our swords and shields.
