9. Six PM in IN, except in the northwest and southwest corners of the state,
which will go for an extra hour (only it isn't really "extra" as they are in the next time zone over and they started later).

6. yup. They think of that constituting rugged individualism.
When driving thru indianer, all I could find was talk radio. they discussed day light savings changes, and the calls in were something special. One said it was a UN plot to destroy America, another said that the commies and black militants were behind it and my fave said this would destroy life on earth. That extra hour of sunshine would cause his crop to burn up before he get reap it.

and they were all serious.

8. Yep. The bars will open an hour later in those Central time zone regions.

Right after selling the tollways to China, the new governor (Republican) decided to switch to Daylight Savings Time while allowing each county select which time zone they wanted. Prior to this Indiana was one of the few places intelligent enough to ignore Daylight Savings.

I was pushing for the Universal Coordinated Time. That would be Greenwich Mean Time without any Daylight Savings Time.

Made family dinners fun. "Dinner is at noon."

"Which time zone?"

"Our time."

"Well, we're in Martin Co. Is that the same time zone as Greene Co?"

"Dunno. Not sure what time zone we're even in."

"What time does the evening national news come on where you're at?"

"6:00pm"

"Well, it's 5:00pm here. So if you're having dinner at noon, I guess that would be 1:00pm our time."

"I think you have that backwards. I think it will be 11:00am your time."

"You sure?"

"Better come early just to be safe. You can always help setup tables and chairs!"

"You'd like that."

"Wait a sec, I have someone on call waiting." {pause} "Oh, that's the folk from Orange Co wanting to know what time the dinner is. This may take awhile. I'll call you back later."
