Poll question: Clark Supporters: If Clark hadn't run, who would you be supporting now?
Suppose Clark decided not to run. Who would you be supporting? Even if your feelings are divided, try to choose a single one.

I'm picking Dean. It's very close between Dean and Kerry, but Dean wins out. What the few Dean supporters who virulently oppose Clark don't seem to realize is that we often support Clark for reasons similar to those they have for supporting Dean...

(Yes, Lieberman is purposefully not included. Because--well, c'mon.)

1. you left out the option of Bush
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 04:18 PM by TeacherCreature
since Clark is "the only one who can get the swing vote" shouldn't that be an option?

3. I left out "Other" because
I knew jokers would be cracking wise (or cracking stupid) like that.

8. Not sure
Before Clark I supported Dean, but now I would have to put myself in the "undecided" column.

I bounce between Kerry and Edwards. Some days I really like Kucinich. If I had to pick one today, I guess it would be Edwards.

13. Probably would have switched from Kerry to Dean
instead of from Kerry to Clark. If all else were equal during this primary, I don't believe I'd still be supporting Kerry at this point. - And that's too bad, I think he'd be good, possibly great President. But he's a lousy candidate, and we can't afford that. Whatever else you say about Dean, he's kept control of his image and his message, and he's running on his terms, not his opponents'. Clark is doing the same, IMHO. He hasn't said much about what other candidates are doing or not doing, other than pointing out why he thinks he's better - and even then, he's making it about Bush*, not about the other candidates.

26. Well, there is Dean - who appeased Republicans for 11 years in VT...
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 06:56 PM by wyldwolf
... and cozyed up to corporate interests... garnered the GOP controlled NRA's highest rating... and "tends to believe the president."

He seems to be the more logical choice for republican voters.

34. uh... yeah
Former governor Philip H. Hoff served three terms in the 1960s, and is regarded as the grand old man of liberal Democratic politics here. His support for Dean comes leavened with skepticism... "As governor, he fell under the sway of business interests." Hoff said.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A15326-2003Aug2?language=printer

For Vermonters who have seen Howard Dean up close and personal for the last eleven years as our governor, there's something darkly comical about watching the national media refer to him as the "liberal" in the race for the Democratic nomination for president. With few exceptions in the 11-plus years he held the state's top job, Dean was a conservative Democrat at best. And many in Vermont, particularly environmentalists, see Dean as just another Republican in Democrat's clothing.

Dean became Vermont's accidental governor in 1991 after Governor Richard Snelling died of a heart attack while swimming in his pool. Dean, the lieutenant governor at the time, took the state's political reins and immediately followed through with his promise not to offend the Snelling Republicans who occupied the executive branch. And Dean carried on with his right-leaning centrism for the next eleven, long years.

Dean thinks it's ok to lie to American citizens sometimes if it has to do with national security.... but hey, after three years we're used to that. :eyes:

44. Yeah, thats very logical.............
Since Clark said something nice ONCE about * at one fundraiser right before he raked him over the coals AT THE SAME fundraiser.

Since Clark has clearly and repeatedly spoken against Bush probably three quarters of a million times since then.

This canard of yours is becoming seriously tiresome.

I like the fact that he energizes voters and doesn't give a fuck what the establishment thinks. I think he's far more electable than my fellow Clark supporters give him credit for.
