Instead of a debate, let's have a speech contest...
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 05:02 PM by RichardRay
Senators Clinton and Obama will each deliver a speech (with some maximum duration - 60 minutes?) in which each will attack John McCain and the Republican platform. A list of topics will be provided to the candidates with the requirement that each issue on the list get at least some coverage. Maybe several single issue oriented speeches? 5 to 10 minutes each on an identical list of topics?

Speeches to be given on two successive nights on national TV to avoid fatigue, first speaker to be chosen by coin flip.

Speeches may not mention, by name, reference or innuendo, the other Democrat. The goal is to get a preview of how each would run against the Republicans and McCain.

Since the primary concern seems to be how 'electable' each candidate is, let's get a look at how they'd present themselves competing against the real opponent.

(by the way, I think that was my 1,000th post here on DU - thank god, I can stop, now.)

4. Sorry, my bad. I'll try to do better...
Barry is a race baiting coward who won't debate the lieing bitch who ran away from sniper fire. Hilli Vanilli owes money to everybody including my mother and she fraduently charged it to my mom's credit card to start with. But, that doesn't matter because Obama doesn't even have a credit card 'cause he's Muslim and they don't believe in charging interest so they don't have credit cards. And, Obama' spirtual advisor hates the United States, the U.N., white people, yellow people and Jews. But that's OK because Clinton's spiritual advisor hates catholics and gays, and both of them are actually minions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet, who as we all know is an Aryan.

There's hows that :-).

2. Not a bad idea - I was thinking we could call them at 3AM and see how they react to bad news...

6. It would need to be on live TV. That may be a logistical difficulty.

3. I think we should have a, "Who can tell the most imaginative story" contest.
It's one area where Hillary shines. She can tell us all about the time she marched into the board of Wal-Mart and delivered a blistering ultimatum to the Board to give the workers fair pay and benefits while trying to organize the workers to unionize.
