43 Percent of Clinton Supports May Vote for McCain If Obama Nominee
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 02:08 PM by keep_it_real
<snip>

43. That's the percentage of Clinton voters who say they would stay home or vote for McCain if Obama is the party's nominee in November.

1. It's my hope that once we get a nom --
Obama OR Clinton, that regardless of the ill will we feel toward that person now, the contrast between him/her and McCain will send good Dems everywhere screaming to the polls to vote to keep him out of the WH.

31. I think she'll endorse him....eventually
She still has her poltical future to think of. Unless, she wants to lose her senate seat. Which could happen.

36. Of course she will. She knows how important it is to defeat McCain.
Here are her remarks on that subject at the Pennsylvania debate:

SENATOR CLINTON: Well, Charlie, I'm going to do everything I possibly can to make sure that one of us takes the oath of office next January. I think that has to be the overriding goal, whatever we have to do.

Obviously we are still contesting to determine who will be the nominee. But once that is resolved, I think it is absolutely imperative that our entire party close ranks, that we become unified.

I will do everything to make sure that the people who supported me support our nominee.

25. Not for the ones I was referring to: i.e. Rethugs taking marching orders from Rush Limpnutz
to cross over and vote Dem to support Hillary i.e. to try to sink Obama.

They wouldn't probably vote for Hillary in the GE anyway.

14. Some are republicans, some are racist, and others are
bitter old white women that hate men and have racial tendecies themselves. They believe that a black man is taking their tightful place in the oval office. How dare this black get out of place. He was suppose to let Hillary win.

The ideal ticket,
imo, is Clinton-Obama! Then no Democrat will cross over to McCain. 8 years of Hillary, followed by 8 years of Barack. 16 years for the Republicans to be out in the cold.

Obama will be the next president of the United States, at least that's my fervent hope. Clinton will return to the Senate and make amends for her dirty politics... that's not my fervent hope, but at least then she would be doing something useful and not destructive.

8. That's 43% in Pennsylvania. On the other hand, how many people
in Pennsylvania would still be supporting the Democratic candidate over the Republican candidate? If 50.1% of the total vote in the fall goes to Barack, we still win. Obama still has several months to point out the differences between himself and McCain on the war, on health care, on the mortgage crisis, on the fuel crisis, etc.

12. They may say that now
but I suspect the numbers will be far less come November. People say all kinds of things in the heat of the moment and this has been a very hot campaign season.

But if that is true and Clinton supporters refuse to vote for Obama if he winds up being the nominee then I guess we get what we deserve - a president who is chosen not for his stellar qualifications and vision for the future but because Hillary supporters have a "Screw you guys." attitude. Talk about bitng your nose to spite your face. :eyes:

That goes for Obama supporters who refuse to vote for Hillary, too.

17. In my opinion...
and i don't speak for Hillary supporters, but I think that number may be inflated by Hillary supporters trying to send a "message" to the super-delegates. The old "we'll walk if we don't get our way" argument. But what's sad about that, is the Obama supporters are the ones who would actually have a legitimate beef if Hillary is handed the nomination. That's the only way this can turn out now. Either Obama wins because he won the most delegates, states, and popular vote, so the Supers gave it to him....or Hillary wins because the Supers overturned the voice of the people. If you ask me, I'm quite shocked that more Obama supporters aren't saying what Hillary's supporters are saying. Makes you think though...

They hate the thought of an actual Democrat in the White House, so they'll take off the mask and vote for McLoony.

Fuck those idiots. The sooner they are out of this party, the better for all of us.

I gotta call bullshit on that.

I can understand not voting for either candidate with all the division in the air, but as much as i detest Hillary's tactics - I can't fathom ever voting for a puke, even more that war mongering McSame.

Hard to believe our Dems are that soft or stupid.

30. You know I just love the fear mongering.
That is all this is. It is a repub type tactic, if you don't put our choice on the ticket we will cost you the election. It is sick. As an Obama supporter, I will begrudgingly vote for her in the fall IF she legitimately gets the nomination, the same should go for everyone. The WH back in the hands of a democrat is the goal, but Clinton and Obama supporters have almost taken too much of a personal interest in this campaign.

This is hurting the party, and the MSM is LOVING it, thats why they keep feeding into it.

instead of clinging to the Democratic party and pulling it to the right.

Can you imagine how many disgusted Greens, Independents and decent Republicans would come back and make up for them? People whose racist little hearts can't accept a Black President or think McCain represents them better than Obama need to get the fuck out of the party.
