Okay. Jon Stewart likes EDWARDS.
He is only worried that Edwards' spirit will be crushed by the political process. He just said this on Larry King.

I rest my case.

1. I do too
I've decided I do too.

Except I wish sometime we could have a WOMAN or someone other than a white guy on the ticket. It's getting mighty boring.

What about one of the numerous congresspeople we saw in Fahrenheit 9/11, who stood up courageously for democracy after the coup?

8. Edwards's message of flowing power to people who don't have it works
for women and minorities and immigrants and anyone who makes money from selling their labor.

With him, the symbolism of having a woman or a minority on the ticket isn't as compelling as the reality of having a person on the ticket whose polices empower women and minorities.

4. There was such a sweetness to JS's comment. JRE is fresh and vibrant,
but he has also seen the depths of despair in the courtroom and in his own life. I wish I could give a copy of "Four Trials" to everybody at DU - and in the country. Read it, and you will meet a man who you will love, and respect, and always want on your side.

5. John Edwards is one of the toughest people you'll ever see
He is able to listen and be influenced by others, yet stand his ground and do what he feels right when others disagree. There's a strength there that can even endure the political grind. Oh, and he's never owned a gun, even though he comes from gunland.

He's a nice guy because he's a nice guy; that's not going to change.

Bill Maher likes him too.

If I had to analyze why Kerry may not like him so much, I'd say that it's a bit of personal frustration: Kerry's more reserved and distant, and that can rankle. Whether these rumors have much substance or not, it's obvious that they're in sync about a lot of stuff.

I'm sorry for those who are irked by him, especially those supporters of other candidates to whom he's been an gbstacle, but the guy's for real. Much of what I've done for a living over the years is hiring and supervising people--I mean MANY people--and my horseflesh judging has served me pretty well; I've met John Edwards, and he's an extraordinary person. It was apparent at the first.

Some people just happen to get dealt a good hand: he's brilliant, gorgeous, has a good heart and is a very hard worker with a good sense of his own limitations. We should be happy he exists at this time, and I wouldn't fear his being embittered by the process.

6. Edwards actually announced his run for President
on the Daily Show. He had promised Jon earlier in the year that if he ran he would do the announcement on his show, and he did, though I imagine it was coordinated with some other more traditional type of announcement, I really don't remember the details.
