VT Dean delegate criticizes system, says it favors insiders.

SNIP..."Delegate pushes for grass-roots representation
The Associated Press
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont delegate to the Democratic National Convention who is pledged to former Gov. Howard Dean is criticizing the way the state's delegation was chosen.

Ken Dean, 49, of Montpelier, who is unrelated to the former presidential hopeful and governor, filed papers with the Democratic National Committee Friday arguing the process violated delegate-selection rules and favored party insiders over grass-roots activists.

"They violated the letter and the spirit of the rules," he said. "It may not have bothered anyone else but it certainly bothered me."

Most of the Vermont delegation are party leaders or elected politicians......"END SNIP

I have seen several other instances mentioned on the blog about other states.

6. Wow! another one.
If the word Dean is mentioned some think they are obligated to say something out of line to the bearer of the message.

I have posted about other things a lot today, bombing Iraq, the war between Oceania and Eastasia in 1984, but nothing gets any attention at all.

Hmmmm.....maybe I need the attention, so I post about a Dean delegate. Must be a need thingy.

7. I think you're confusing your sarcasm with witt
Or do you just react this way whenever Dean is mentioned?

4. Why? What exactly is your problem with this?
The rules were broken in favor of the party establishment, and at the expense of those who actually supported Dean.

And you think that making a complaint about this is wrong?

That's pretty sad.

9. It is this guy's OPINION that the rules were broken
and of course, opinions are just like a certain part of the human anatomy, everyone has one.

10. An opinion does not have to be said "Cry me a river".
He could disagree in a more courteous manner.

It stuns me that people are so dismissive of Dean, that they are ignoring serious issues with choosing delegates.

That is what bothers me.

Then he said he did not tell me to "Cry me a flood." You think a wee bit discourteous? You think maybe?

11. The tunnel vision
I think that might be the poster's problem. Some people have tunnel vision and are stuck on a candidate that isn't the nominee and can't move past it. It's beginning to interfere with our objective, which is supposed to be getting Bush out of the White House. It's not one candidate or one person either, it's a BUNCH.

12. You are saying I have tunnel vision. Yet I wrote about a delegate.
Here we go again! If anyone mentions the name Dean, they are accused of being unable to get over it. Doesn't it get tiresome.

Please tell me you do not mean this. We have been down this road over and over and over. I will continue to post things about Dean IF I wish.

I would never tell someone to "Cry me a river." It is just not polite.

See, you used a good putdown, "tunnel vision." I just got a letter from Kerry thanking us for our "very sizable" donation. Do you call that tunnel vision?

I find this so childish and silly to continue this stuff. But, if it makes you feel better, go ahead. It apparently gives you satisfaction.

15. Not "anyone"
"Some people" who have "tunnel vision". Post what you want, people are going to call you on it. Don't be surprised. There's a difference in the people who post all kinds of things, including some DFA stuff, and the ones who are stuck on the "Dean malignment" or whatver. It doesn't make you happy I know, but the difference is obvious to the rest of us.

These are not about Dean. I think you just say that to embarrass me and it really does not. Most realize what is being done.
Here are the posts, just because you said I did not post all kinds of things.

Actually I do not know what Dean "malignment" I do. I post positive posts about him.

Actually not too many find every opportunity to say these things to me. There are several who do it regularly here. It is ok. I gather you need to do that.

20. posts about the "dean malignment"
Not that you malign Dean, how ridiculous. The links in your other post, bashing Dems, praising Dean. He is a Dem too, a centrist Dem to be exact; who also criticized Bush for not letting the inspections process continue or prove war was necessary, who supported confronting Saddam with war if necessary, just like Clinton and Kerry did; or did you miss all of that somewhere along the line?

Whatever floats your boat.

21. I could go on with this, the malignment, but it is not worth it.
I think my posts are fine, not insulting, usually thoughtful. I won't say that many make most of theirs saying unkind things to others. If I did that, it would not be nice. Now, would it?

16. See Iowa.
Four insiders circled the wagons to keep the outsiders out. Oddly enough, Lieberman wasn't one of them and Kucinich was.

26. Sour grapes
This guy is just bitter that his candidate lost. And in case you haven't noticed, delegates in both parties tend to be party leaders or elected officials because they are the type of people you need on your team if you're going to wage a winning campaign; they know how to raise money, organize etc. far better than average Joe off the street. You may call that elitist, but I call it a good strategy.

27. So, you think that all delegates
should be insiders? Grassroot activists don't cut it?

Screw We, the People voting! Let the insiders and the elite pick all of our candidates! They know best, right?

Democratic much?
