I'm not even all that wild about her, but to the Obama faction here, every breath she takes is a crime against humanity.

9. Not a crime against humanity, just buffoonery. Admit it . . .

. . . doesn't it remind me of something Dubya would have done? It's the kind of thing we would have read about in "Top Ten Conservative Idiots."

I think we're all hypersensitive to moron politics now after eight years.

That seems to be the Hillary camp's only defense lately. "Well, if it had been the other way around!" Well, it wasn't.

There's nothing for Obama to get a "pass" on. Since when do candidates make a pilgrimage to the Lorraine Motel to pay homage? Barf.

At least Hillary didn't look as bad as McCain did at his photo op. I'll give her that much.

...since hurling her backpack across the room.

For someone to account such a strong, visceral reaction to King's death,
and then to stand at the very spot where he died---and wave and smile like you're
on a parade float---is a bit odd.

Any criticism she gets--and a LOT of it lately is richly deserved--brings cries of "oh, you just hate her!" Total hyperbole on your part. Knock it the fuck off already.

see the Hillary photos at Lorraine Motel in the same way that Obama supporters do. I've read a couple of threads in which Obama supporters are trashing Hillary over these photos as if she were the devil for showing up to mark the anniversary. Those photos are clearly in the eye of the beholder because I see nothing wrong with her being there, or with the pictures of her being there. That hardly seems a reason to start swearing at people. Jeez.

57. You have to see them through human eyes.
Would you go to the place where a civil rights leader was assainated 40 years ago to the date, stand in the same spot smile and waive, or would you go to that same spot with a somber expression on your face? It is as bad as Bush smiling when he talks about war. In the words of Lewis Black, um Mr. President when you talk about war you have to have a frowny face.

The fact that he didn't go there to exploit MLK death says quite a bit about him. McCain and Hillary need to stop with their crap. McCain voting against MLK holiday then had the nerve to say he didn't fully understand MLK legacy. Hillary secretly telling super D's that Obama cannot win because he is black then she takes a fucking picture smiling and waving on the very spot that MLK died, whatever. MLK had a dream and I'm sure part of that dream was to see us black folks achieve just as much as our white counterparts. Hillary spit on the legacy of King by going behind the scene telling super delegates that a black man cannot win this nomination. I bet MLK would say different if he was alive to see just how far Obama has come. That picture leaves a bad taste in my mouth but not as much as knowing that while she is standing there waving like a dufus she is secretly hoping that racism will turn the super D's to her.

one would think that a public figure visiting the site of such an immense tragedy would be pious, somber, reflective . . . if only to respect the memory of Dr. King . . .

if this is an example of Sen. Clinton's judgement, she has no business in the Oval Office . . .

59. Yes. Despite the meme that says she was "grinning like a fool" throughout the visit...
...she seems well able to put on the requisite mourning/pensive face. I don't begrudge her a smile and a wave, though out of context they can be made to make her look...well, any way the haters want.

I believe that it might have been a slight misstep--could she not have waited to stand in another spot of less historical significance? But I'll guarantee she wasn't the only one to smile up there that day. It's been forty years, fools; we can mourn King's passing and celebrate his example and accomplishments. I can't tell people how to feel out one snapshot out of many, but even a carpetbagger politician's photo-op is not necessarily in bad taste.

This is an iconic location that represents ground zero for one of the greatest traumas in recent American history. I doubt she's racist, but this certainly doesn't help her in the mind-numbingly ignorant category.

Personally, I think it is in poor taste to celebrate the anniversary of someone's murder, but I try not to be too uppity about these kinds of things.
