``Every vote should count.''

-- Jeb Bush, upon signing into law a measure doing away with witness signatures for absentee ballots

Our governor -- what a kidder!

If we counted every vote in Florida, Jeb's brother would be spending all of his time -- and not just some of his time -- falling off his bicycle on his Texas ranch.

The only thing the bill Jeb signed Tuesday guarantees, is that Florida's elections will continue to be a joke. By taking away the witness requirement, the governor and the Legislature not only made it easier for corruption to take place -- which in itself is a fairly amazing feat -- but they have also made it more difficult to catch.

3. I don't think so.
In Gore's speech, he inferred that he went along with the legal decision that put Bush in office because of his respect for the law. I don't think Kerry (or Gore, or anyone) would let it go like that so easily next time.

I think Bush might try to cheat, but I think there will be many voices raised this time if and when he does.

5. But
how will they know and how will they prove it? Tactics like these ensure their victory.

9. Well, there's always a first time...
...to call for another election to see if there's a similar outcome.

The thing is, I think many people have become so afraid of BushCo. that they've almost given them magical and super powers. They're just humans, even if they are fascists. And, just like every dog, every fascists also has his day.

I think the press is turning on Bush, too--gradually, but surely. Other world leaders, the U.N., Kerry...all these and more would be questioning the election if it were rigged and pulled off.

I think it's just being realistic. You can't question an election as being rigged if you have no visible evidence. BBV, absentee ballot fraud, etc. are tactics that are hidden from view and prevent examination. Even if it was evident and provable, do you think this Supreme Court would allow us "to call for another election to see if there's a similar outcome."?
Bush & Co. don't have magical super powers. They're just corrupt beyond comprehension and they hold all the cards. Their power and control may be beyond our reach. I hope I'm mistaken but I have grave doubts that I am.

2. Do most other states require a witness?
I don't think it's required in some other states?

12. No way you needed a "notarized" witness.
You really had to have a notary public witness your ballot?

I'm familiar with absentee voting rules for 4 states, and NONE require a witness, much less a notarized witness.

4. It was already pretty hopeless
and now this just seals the deal. They'll stop at nothing to steal it again. We're screwed.

7. Explanation.
I guess I should explain. By "Jewish vote" I mean that I recall that in 2000 there were a number of absentee votes cast, or who tried to cast votes, by Jewish American citizens who live in Israel.

8. It sounds like they used old rule NOT to count votes.
Edited on Thu May-27-04 11:28 PM by PeaceProgProsp
The other thread gave an example of how votes weren't counted on the suspicion that the they were frauduldent just because they had the same witness.

In other words, comply with the rules and they still didn't count your vote even if they had no proof of fraud.
